Happy I found this website now make me even happier by helping me please!

I am 5 weeks post-op from a tummy tuck and there is a weird smell coming from the area now. It's really foul smelling and the worst part is the area it's coming from which is my tooshie! Sorry I know thats sick to say but I can tell you the scent has nothing to do with my #2 if you catch my drift because it's not that type of smell. It's coming from area where he cut at so there has to be something else going on down there. I don't even know how to describe the scent other than it's very gross and if anything I have been overkill with my hygiene since surgery washing 3x a day. This isn't part of the normal healing process is it? When I bend down which does hurt to do I can smell it and if I touch the area and then smell my hand I can smell it. This is so embarrassing to talk about which is why I'm coming here before I go to my doctor who happens to be quite attractive

Has anyone else had a bad smell after tummy tuck surgery from the incision or cut skin area on the butt? Or better yet can someone tell me what this is? Again I am so sorry to talk about this I bet some of have have already barfed reading this post but I promise you it has nothing to do with my cleanliness there is something else going on with my butt and inner thighs.

What you are describing sounds like an infection. An unusual and unpleasant is often the first sign of an infection. Have you spoken with your physician regarding this? Based on the information you gave, I would guess you have an infection brewing down there. A strong cycle of oral antibiotics often should take care of that.

I ended up going to my doctors the next day and sure enough it was an infection! You should have saw me in there I was too embarrassed to put the problem in the right words the so my sweetheart doctor just interjected and politely phrased up my symptoms for me. He's so dreamy but I need to snap out of that he's out of this single mom's league But thank you everyone you were right. The odor is gone and I think it's gone away so I didn't have any complications from it that we know of. I'm still on my antibiotics and Friday is my last day for them.

Now help me find excuses to go see Dr. Sexy that are not embarrassing.

do you know if you do have an skin infection after surgery can it do any permanent damage to the incision area and how it heals?

I didn't know that a bad odor was the first sign of an infection. That's good info to know I'll be sure and remember that. I guess it goes the same what ever body part you have operated on not just a tummy tuck?
