8 Days and Counting until my Abdominoplasty & Breast Lift

Soo....Next Wednesday, 1/12/11, I am scheduled for my abdominoplasty and breast lift together. I really never thought I would get to this point after weight loss surgery. I'm super excited about the surgery but a wee bit aprehensive about the pain i'm going to feel after. My insurance is paying for my TT so I at least get to spend the night at the hospital with a pain med. drip hopefully! LOL! I'm definetly not looking forward to the first few days home. Any pointers from anyone would be GREATLY appreciated!:

Good luck! My doctor was amazed that I was approved. It has alot to do with people faking symptoms after WLS (rashes etc.) As well as a maintained weight. I was 337lbs the day of my gastric bypass and i've been consistent 155-160lbs for the last 3 years. I was amazed when I opened the letter. Expecting to see the 'we do not find this medically necessary' schpeal but was instead amazingly surprised by the approved. Crazy! Expecially after having it refused at another plastic surgeon a year prior! Good luck! I hope all goes well!

Ok.....I did it....here I am! My tummy tuck, breast lift and breast aug. was on wed. the 5th so I am now 4 days post-op. I also got to spend the night at the hospital with drip and that was really nice. It certainly is pretty painfull but I think the main concern would be to get a pain med that does not make you nausaues. I threw-up the first night home and thought I would die but thankfully it was only once and it was me coming off the anesthesia. Each day does get better and I am sooooo looking forward to getting these drains out next week. My first shower felt great too. The best advice I could give is to stay on top of your meds to the minute and actually to wear "granny panties". This allows you to not interfere with your incision and it gives you a place to tuck your drains into and draw string sweats will be your best friend! Good luck! I will let you know as I go along how I feel but from what I see my stomach does look pretty flat and my breasts (thank God) even with swelling do not look crazy big (that was my biggest fear). I just wanted to return to what I once was before 4 kids and nothing more. Make sure someone can hold your hands and lift you out of bed because you will not be able to. I set up a chair right next to my bed with a heating pad for my back (actually my back was one of my biggest pain complaints). Sleeping upright with all the pillows caused pain in my lower back even with towels to help support because I am usually a side sleeper so this was hard for me so I would sleep for a while and then I would just have to sit for a while with the heating pad in the chair . I feel like I am talking in past tense but this was actually just last night!! As of this minute the biggest pain is where my drains are coming out of, this is very sore for me but the emptying of the drains is very easy and not an issue at all. My husband just took 3 of the 4 kids sledding and I am home with the just turned 2 yr. old. I can not bend over to change her so he better not be gone long! And because I am a little bit OCD the hurricane that has seemed to have swept through my house is bothering me but I am just going to look the other way and just pop another pill. Talk to you soon.....
