TTforNana?

Hi everyone! this decision has been sooooo long coming and still not quite there but thinking about it ALOT.
I am 55 years young , had two c-sections 34 & 35 years ago which resulted in bulgy incision scars. Stretch marks pretty much limited to below the navel.Thought about a tummy tuck after the second C-Sec but of course, money was tight and time off of work limited so I just kept the thought of a TT in mind and figured one day........In the meantime, these years have brought me some 50 or so extra pounds (concentrated mostly around the waistline...or what USED to be a waistline). Finally, thanks to a wonderful DIL who has encouraged me to exercise in a "fun" way (zumba), I am starting to lose some of the extra weight (20 lbs so far). The weight loss has made the "bulge" more of a flap and I am back to thinking about a tummy tuck or at least mini TT as I can tell it will only get worse as I lose more weight. We have a vacation home at the beach and swimsuits have become a big part of my wardrobe. The "bulge"shows like a ridge so I look for swimsuits with print bottoms and mostly overskirts. This has been a way of life for 35+ years and at this point, I doubt I'd go for a bikini but a smooth silouette from the side would be nice, solid color one piece swimsuits (heck and maybe a two piece) and not having to buy pants a size larger to fit my waist would be toally awesome. Mostly I just want that flap gone but am still open to a full tummy tuck but wanted to hear if any one else my age has gone thru this and their experience. or am I just tooooo old for this journey? thanks heaps!

I don't think you're too old, however, do you have any health concerns or problems that might complicate your surgery and/or healing?

you are not to old. I am 59 5 weeks post off . I love my new tummy. My Dr took off 6 lbs from me. 6 inches off my waist, I did great, Only problem I had was trying to be still, rest & let it heal. I can not relax. Had to have the drain put back 2 times but would do it all over in a minute. My dr. only problem was if I smoked, which I do not. It takes longer to heal. Good luck,

I don't think you are to old either. I am 51 yrs old. Just because we are older doesn't mean we don't have the right to look good or feel good about ourselves.

I want to put on my swim suit and feel sexy again. I want to put on my jeans and not have that bulge hanging over the sides AND see the bulge that between my ribs (do you know where I am talking about?)

I want to enjoy looking in the mirror and feel sexy with my husband.

No I don't think 55 is too old. I feel it is a matter as how old you feel.
I am 62 this month and I am planning to have one done very soon. Only thing holding me up is I have to stop smoking first. Found a Dr. and have all arrangments made as to after care and clothes to wear as I heal, etc. I am looking forward to the new clothes too. Like you I don't plan to go out and buy a bikini and I told the doctor that when he started talking about scares and acting like that would be a big concern. I say if you want to do it and feel up to it go for it.

I have wanted a tummy tuck for 20 years. I have gained and lost the same ten pounds 25 times over the years. The only place I lost weight was in my face which made me look older. At the age of 56 I finally got up my guts to go for a consultation. With my husbands support I had mine 3 weeks ago. It has been quite a journey. As bad as I wanted to do this 20 years ago I can't imagine having done this when my children were young. I have progressively gotten better daily and am thrilled with my results. I did not have any medical issues and so far everything has gone as planned.

Its better to ask your surgeons, they will better tell you whether what things are necessary before the surgery.

I had a tt in March results were great in beginning but still have random swelling so may have to have more lipo to remove some that was left...

I want to tell you that you aren't too old because the wife of a friend had hers done recently at 58.
However the question isn't age, it's health and what you want to accomplish. A reputable docor like Dr. Prasad at Prasad Cosmetic Surgery in NYC and on Long Island (I had my eyes done by him) would want to have a consultation with you before recommending you go ahead. Don't use one w/o fully checking credentials and checking his B&A photos. This is also not a price decision alone, this is your body and you want it done by the best!

Don,t worry with your age you are not too aged. Yes your's tummy problem is really serious in my advise i like suggest you to have a setting with your specialist before using any house hold like tip or trick.
