I'm a candidate for a Tummy Tuck. I did a consultation and the doctor told me it is ok to have the procedure, but I'm still very apprehensive about actually going through with it. Is it normal to feel this way? What can I do to get over this fear and go on with the surgery?

I think with any surgery it is normal. What is it that's more concerning- the results or safety?

The best way to overcome your fear is by educating yourself and reaching out, which you have done on this forum!!!

Ask questions, no matter how ridiculous they seem. You might also be helping others who have the same question. Remember the old saying "there's no such thing as a stupid question. It's true (well ... most of the time ).

You definitely need to have more than one consultation, with more than one surgeon. Many docs will tell you that you're a good candidate for a surgery, as they see dollar $ign$. You might go to another doc and he or she might suggest a different procedure, or have a totally different outlook.

Search this portion of the forum and read posts that interest you. Read the posts with the pushpin symbol. Use them as a guide.

Talk to people who have had the procedure.

Read articles online. Educate yourself about the risks, cost, benefits, requirements, healing process, etc.
