Tummy tuck with C section and NERVOUS!

Ok well I am going to be getting a tummy tuck! I am so excited but SO nervous at the same time.. I'm going to be getting my tummy tuck at the same time as a C section first of all which is my biggest concern.. but if I don't do it this way I wont be able to afford getting it.. Secondly I need it REALLY bad right now at 7 and a half months pregnant I weigh almost 300 lbs! OMG! I can not believe I am SO fat! After I had my son I gained about 60 lbs that never went anywhere and now with about 30 lbs gained with this baby I am HUGE! I can feel it effecting my health and I hate it! Also I can't even feel my stomach because when I had my son I was really swollen and there is still water in my stomach so I can't feel it at all.. which I totally hate.. Most people don't recommend a tummy tuck at the same time as a C section because the uterus is still swollen but in my case they will be taking all fat and more then likely won't even get it all.. I am going to be awake for the birth through and epidural then right after the birth they are going to knock me out and do the procedure.. I am just SO scared.. First of all I am a worrier anyways so I tend to freak out easy and secondly what if something really did happen? I can't even stand to think about not being here for my babies.. every time the thought even enters my head I start crying. Also it will be a certified plastic surgeon doing my surgery not my OB! And I am in good health.. No high blood pressure etc.. but still I am extremely terrified and have been under Anastasia with no problems.. So what are the risks of getting a tummy tuck? Would you do it given my situation? and Has anyone ever had one? Was it terrible pain? I know C section recovery with my son was so I imagine this is going to be 10x worse.. are you happy with your results? Any insight is appreciated!!!!:confused:

Welcome to the forum!!! :)

I have never had a tummy tuck, however, the risks include bleeding, blood clots, infection, drain issues, bad reactions to anesthesia, drain issues (including infection and delayed healing), bad reactions to medication, aspiration pneumonia, and even death. I hope these risks do not scare you further. It does not mean that all or any of the aforementioned risks will affect you personally. I am merely telling you the truth. Every surgery has potential complications as well as risks.

I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma :(

I've never heard of doing a C-section and a tummy tuck at the same time. If there is any way possible to do the tummy tuck at a later date, I would do that. In addition to the complications (mentioned above) the results may not be the best they could be. Were you planning on losing any weight after your baby? With tummy tucks, it's better to be at your goal weight first. Otherwise if you continue losing weight after the tummy tuck, you might be left with extra skin.

Yes I am planning on loosing weight after the baby! I know you should be at your goal weight when getting the tummy tuck due to extra skin but I really don't care about the extra skin!! I just feel like getting a good portion of this belly off me will really help get me to my goal.. The results aren't my concern my biggest concern is the complications.....

You will care about the skin! Hanging skin is worse to contend with than fat, believe it or not. I know it seems like a good idea to have the TT pre goal weight, but that means you might have to undergo a panniculectomy. How much weight do you want to lose post TT? Many docs will not perform a TT unless you are at goal weight, or are doing a combo C-section/TT, which in many cases is frowned upon, due to the aforementioned info regarding excess skin.

Wouldn't you rather have the best results possible, instead of just settling for less now?
