Default Tummy Tucks Gone Wrong!

How often do you see tummy tucks gone wrong and how bad can they get? My sister had a tummy tuck in sprng of '04 and an infection of the scar ended up causing a big patch of skin to turn plastic-y almost as if it was burned. I have had 2 kids, now 54 and think it may be time for a tummy tuck. The horror stories scare me and the scars are unsightly. If I get one what are the chances that something will go wrong?

Depends on your doc, your health, surgery risk, age, location, and many other demographic factors.

Please see my response to your other post about the scars

Besides that, tummy tucks gone wrong that I've seen are either the result of post-op complications, or from the plastic surgeon being too aggressive (removing too much skin, bad lipo in combination with it etc).

Default Get opinions and research your doctor

PLEASE, anyone who is looking to get an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), please research not only the pictures your doctor provides but also HIS background. I had my tummy tuck done by Dr John Kotis in Arlington Hts Illinois and regret every thing about it!!!! I should have went to Dr Bloch who just did my friends and it looks amazing!!!!!!!! Dr Kotis is actually a DO, not an MD, and he is a hand surgeon. I am not against abdominoplasty's but please feel comfortable with your doctors work, now I hate it and I am having it revised because it is horrible. You work hard for your money dont just throw it to anyone!!!!! Good luck!
