My friend had a thigh lift after she had gastric bypass and there are some important things her plastic surgeon didn't tell her. Obviously they do tell you the basics like how long the procedure is (it's several hours!) and other things, but what they don't tell you much about is the recovery and the pain. This procedure is apparently extremely painful for some time after. Also there is the possibility of needing a second thighlift later on if the doctor is unable to remove as much fat that should be or if the person loses more weight and needs more removed.

How much does a thigh lift cost? Well, that's a loaded question but I'll try and answer it.

First of all you need to take into account your location. Some parts of the country are more affordable than others because there are more plastic surgeons there. Secondly you need to take into account the surgeons fee, anesthesia fee, and operating room fee. In total you should expect to pay anywhere from $4,000 to $12,000. But also don't forget about the lost income (which is a cost) and prescriptions, gauze, extra pillows, vitamins, etc which you will have to buy.

The other thing is unlike many other surgeries, with a thigh lift you definitely are inhibited with your body movement for quite some time. Doing things like chores around the house, carrying in groceries from the car, and other simple things may suddenly become a challenge. Take all these things into account before you go through with a thigh lift.

Also you need to take into account that you may need a revision surgery. Thigh lifts involve a lot of cutting and you can have busted stitches or not enough skin removed and may need more down the road. Be sure and talk to your surgeon about that and try and get the surgeon fee waived in the event you need another surgery after the first.
