I was quoted $11200 USD by a plastic surgeon. Another site the average medial thigh lift cost is $7500 for the USA. The cosmetic surgeon that quoted me is near SF where my sister lives. Would it be a better choice to go elsewhere and stay at a hotel if the cost is a great deal less?
Even if you can save $3,000 on your medial thigh lift by going elsewhere, when you take into the costs of hotel, transportation, etc you may not come out much ahead (not to mention, you won't have your sister there to help you through the process).
I would try to negotiate with your doctor for reimbursement of your travel expenses. A lot of doctors are also willing to give discounts if you pay in cash or if you are willing to be flexible with your dates. Some will even do student discounts!
If I were you, I'd go to the Hospital where your sister lives nearby even if it is around 3000 bucks higher. This is because following the surgery you will normally feel discomfort and rigidity for about 2 to 3 days. It would be best to have your sister to assist you the moment you step out from the hospital.
