Which one is better? Here are the pros and cons in my opinion

benzoyl peroxide PROS: stronger, powerful, quicker results, can handle big pimples
CONS: bacteria becomes resistant over a brief period of time (2 to 3 months)

salicylic acid PROS: gentle for sensitive skin, can apply multiple times a day every day w/o overdrying of skin
CONS: not as powerful, can't handle cystic acne nodules.

in my opinion, i prefer benzoyl peroxide because if not used constantly so the bacteria becomes immune, it works okay. it's too bad though if you've noticed in recent years more and more products are switching to benzoyl peroxide. like the acne pads all use to be made with it and now they're now almost all salicylic acid.

i prefer salicylic acid based treatments for zits but then again i have sensitive skin. i'm sure on men benzoyl peroxide is probably the way to go.

Benzoyl peroxide 10% otc cream spot treatments work for me whenever i get a zit. i just spot treat it at night and by morning it's much better. But the downside of benzoyl peroxide is that it dries the skin and that can cause wrinkles.

I no longer have acne (far too old unfortunately) but I can tell you the acne bacteria becomes immune to both. The secret with treating acne is alternating your treatment methods in a cycle, a different active ingredient every two or three months, to keep them working effectively.
