Onion bulb extract for scars?
 

Are they for real about using onion bulb extract to treat scars? I am highly skeptical of this method. Why is it that it helps and how much does it help? Will there be any benefit too if I start to eat more onions? I really want to know if this is a legit treatment or if it is some latest craze that is not going to work.

Hypothetically, there is evidence it COULD work. I'm not sure if you would have to eat it or use it topically.

I'd go with Mederma or a more permanent method.

It's listed on the ingredient labels as allium cepa. I tried using it years ago for a surgical scar and didn't see any real results. That being said I do have olive skin that scars easily and I didn't use it as directed (mutliple times per day for a few weeks) so maybe if I used it correctly it would have helped. I do know someone though that used onion bulb scar treatment and she had great results so it's different for everybody.
