I know this is a long time after the question was asked but I had 9 keliods on my chest about an inch long and 1/4 inch wide. I had them removed and just got the bill from insurance and it was $11,000. I only had to pay $100. The surgeon told me to put silicon patched on afterward and that seems to be working!! They are slowly getting smaller and the color is diminishing!!! I know people say they'll come back and they may but I want to know for sure!! At least you tried right? Keloids hurt, itch and are so ugly!!

So after 3 months.... it was not worth it! The stitches under the skin are not absorbing and are causing abscesses. They hurt and are causing me not to sleep. Just have to wait this out, not happy and REALLY REGRETTING the surgery....

Desperate

I have a keloid on my chest and it is painfully growing.

I have seen cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists not one but several, not too sure why they are so keen about the injections but they are more keen about inserting injections than recommending or doing a surgery on these keloids.

I am looking for a doctor who has the expertise to help me remove my keloid.

Any ideas?

Have you had any injections? I think I found a Good Dermatologist but she's in Colorado! She's been working on mine and they're getting better! I'm giving it a while though...

So I don't know if anybody is still even reading this, but I've been getting Steroid injections in my Keloids and they feel great!!! They no longer hurt ANYMORE AT ALL!!!! It so great!!!! They have flattened out, they are still discolored but they don't itch or hurt anymore and they aren't hard at all!!! I'm going in next week to talk to another person about removing the scars, so we'll see. Insurance doesn't cover that though... she said they have a laser that can be used on non-hard tissue, so we'll see!! I'm so excited that they don't hurt anymore. People who have these have to try this, it's definitely worth it. Even without insurance, my bill was about 120 bucks every month. Not bad for the amount of pain you go through with them. Oh if you're skeptical, let me know and I'll send you pictures! It's amazing!!!
