those were great shows and i think they did a lot of good for the people they made over. did they take those show down for ethical reasons or not? i don't get it they got good ratings and seemed to be popular.

What I want to know is someone who's been on the show. I'd love to hear how it worked out for them in the long haul. For example when they show the rhino 6 weeks post op we all know you have to wait at least a year to see the final result, which they never showed on that show.

On September 9, 2005, the producers of the show were sued by Deleese Williams, a 30-year-old woman from Conroe, Texas, whose sister Kellie McGee killed herself after Williams was dropped as a contestant. Williams was promised a "Cinderella-like makeover" by the producers of Extreme Makeover. As part of the show's filming process, Deleese's family disparaged her appearance on camera. The night before her scheduled dental surgery, she was dropped from the show because the recovery would take too long to fit in the show's timeframe. Four months later, her sister Kellie McGee committed suicide due, Williams claims, to the guilt McGee felt over her on-tape comments about her sister's appearance. Williams is suing the producers of Extreme Makeover for breach of contract and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other allegations. Williams's main argument, presented to the court, was that the producers of "Extreme Makeover" required McGee to say things about her sisters appearance that were both false and cruel. After a year of legal battle, both sides reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount.

The network also got a lot of haggle about the morality of the show... thinking it's too shallow, teaching our kids the wrong values, etc. I have a feeling something similar will be back on air within 3 years.

Regardless of the law suit, I think Extreme Makeover and the Swan should return. EVERY REALITY SHOW has issues with legalities. Survivor takes place on an island where they eat the most ridiculous things and endure physical rigors. So don't tell me a law suit could stop the show... if anything they would just need to have the people sign more wavers or something. As for ethics, there is nothing wrong with it. These people submitted themselves and win free surgery. They are not forced to go on the show! Now truthfully, I wish they would even go further with the show and use doctors who can reshape the entire face with their implants to make it even more perfect and shocking of a change. They almost always went from ugly to just ok or less ugly.... never saw them actually turn pretty..... but sometimes the tranny cake on make up got in the way during the reveal.

It's our right as members of the human tribe to do things with our bodies which we feel will make us attractive. Piercings, Tatoos are just the beginning. Implants and Plastic Surgery are just a natural extension. If you only have a 100 years on the planet you might as well look the way you want. The technology exsist to do it safely and effectivley.
