I was told that bulbous tip rhinoplasty is more difficult to perform than it is for a regular nose. I am of Polish descent and as goes with the territory my nose tip is very bulky to put it nicely! I have not had a nose job yet and want to make sure it will be something that will improve my nose, not make it worse. I must say after browsing this forum I am reluctant to go any further! There is no way at all I can afford to have a revision surgery and that's why I really need to MAKE SURE the doctor does it right the first time. Do I have unrealistic expectations or should I count on a revision being likely?

If it's any help I am a 20 y/o female that is an average weight. I would consider myself attractive EXCEPT for my nose. It really looks out of place on my face and takes attention away from everything else. I always knew since I was a little girl that my bulbous tip was the one thing about myself I didn't like and would eventually want to change. That someday is today and I am ready to go through with rhinoplasty if the chances for a good outcome are high. If it is a harder operation I would like to know what it is that makes it more difficult.

I can understand your reluctance after reading about posts on the boards specifying that people have had to get revisions. Sometimes, regardless of how skilled a surgeon is, if the patient's particular situation has multiple issues, a revision will be necessary. Revisions are also sometimes required due to surgeon error or unrealistic expectations on the part of the patient.

The tip of my nose is although bulbous and it is more difficult to correct. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you why exactly, but from what I understand, the cartilage is more difficult to narrow and keep in place. This is why you need to have realistic expectations with rhinoplasty and you can't expect to have a super slim nose. What you should be able to do though is make the tip somewhat narrower.

To increase the chances of success I would definitely recommend you go with a doctor that is known to specialize in bulbous tip rhinoplasty, but that's no guarantee you won't need a revision.
