Ok Ok now this is for everyone out there who's had a nose job or knows someone that has. How long does the swelling really last? I don't mean what the plastic surgeon tells you, I'm talking about how long it truly last. It seems to me the doctors always try to downplay the recovery time when it comes to any cosmetic operation. My friend had a primary rhino and the dr said the swelling would be 90% gone in 6 weeks - yeah f-ing right! That shnoze was still as big as baseball for at least 6 months more like and it took a good year until the swelling was all gone. Is this a unique case or do plastic surgeons really lie when they tell us the recovery time?

Very true. Doctors like to downplay how lengthy the recovery is. With a primary rhinoplasty you won't be seeing the final result for 12 to 18 months. Now with a secondary/revision rhinoplasty you will remain swollen for 18 to 36 months. Of course a large majority of the swelling will be gone far before that, but that's how long it will take for you to see the final result.

I had my surgery many years ago but I still remember back how long it took to see the finished product. I would say my nose kept changing for about a year and a half after surgery. The nose is a funny thing it stays swollen for quite some time.
