Yeah, it is true that in closed rhinoplasty, the recovery time is very less but it is not good for difficult procedures. Open surgery gives more control over the tip of the nose so difficult operations can be performed better but the recovery time is more than closed rhinoplasty.

Don't be fooled by some plastic surgeons that claim open is best... that is because they don't know how to do closed rhinoplasty, which is much more complicated and very, very few doctors are skilled in doing it. Some of the hot doctors claim it is best but in reality it is because they don't know how to do closed. They were never taught. Swelling will last 4 to 5x longer when you do open rhino.

If a cosmetic surgeon doesn't offer you both options, then look elsewhere. And don't be fooled by his smooth talk saying he recommends open for you. Ask to see pics of patients he's done closed on. Actually check and see to confirm he's capable of doing both and is telling you the truth about why he's making his recommendation.

My plastic surgeon said he learnt closed first; he is really old to be fair, and lives in iran. then he used open because although it takes longer there is more control over what you are doing. all my doctor's noses were perfect and im pretty sure he does both open and closed, depending on how big the change.
