Hey everyone!

I've always had trouble breathing through the nose and I've always felt insecure about the way it looks so it was only a matter of time to get my nose "done" and I wanted it to happen as soon as possible.
I am now 22 years old and I had the procedure on 7 August. It's been approximately 2 months and 3 weeks.

Now I know it's still a little early and I can feel that my nose is still swollen but I am a bit worried about the result.. The doctors told me that it should be okay in "a couple of months" (2-3), and I pretty much know that it takes 6-12 months to actually see the result and I try and stay positive about it and I tell myself when the swell is gone it will be perfect but as days go by I start getting more and more worried because I dont see any change..

The problem is mainly the hump of the nose. I had a hump before surgery and I asked the doctor to reduce it. I told him I didnt want the perfect nose or a huge change, just that I wanted a better version of what I already had but at times when I look at myself in the mirror I feel like the hump is now worse than before.. It's not far from the ideal I have in mind but I just dont see it getting there..

I feel like the part of the bone is completely unswollen but the cartilage part still is and it looks a little bad to me and the problem is its been 3 months and I dont see much change in it...

Another problem i've been noticing the last couple of days is that when I wake up I feel my nose much more swollen than for example last week but I'm thinking maybe it's because of the weather changing and getting colder..

Hi! Try not to worry too much. my mom got a rhinoplasty around your same age and she said it took TWO whole years before hers was completely normal. she also said that you will have "nose days", when your nose will look really bad and big certain days and better the next day.

I know sometimes facial swelling can feel hard even though it's only swelling. But if you still see the bump then maybe your surgeon wasn't aggressive enough shaving it down. I wouldn't blame him though because it sounds like you kind of asked for him only to do a moderate improvement instead of pulling an Ashlee Simpson

I think you should ask him and point it out and see what he says. He should be able to tell you if it is swelling or the bone. FYI the tip will stay swollen for a crazy long time but I don't remember the the dorsal area being swollen on me excessively when I had rhino. I also had a bump and he left a tiny bit and I wish I would have told him to take it all off. I will get it done again when I can afford to do so. I need to anyway b/c the tip is messed up

above the red line is the bone which is not swollen and under the red line is the cartilage part that is swollen..

so please tell me that it will go "down" and the nose will look straighter and it wont stay like that...........

I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure that is not swelling.

I would talk to your doctor ASAP about it. Also you should not have to pay the surgeon fee for a revision. That is customary so don't let him try and strong arm you into paying for a revision. If you have time and money I would advise on a revision soon because there's not point in going through the recovery and swelling process twice.

But like I said I could be wrong about the swelling. I didn't have the dorsal hump but just a bump higher up on the bridge so my swelling may have been different.
