Difference between septoplasty and rhinoplasty
Although septoplasty and rhinoplasty are both related to nose, they both differ very much in their purpose of having them done. Septoplasty is a nose surgery that aids in repairing the defect of septum, the wall inside your nose, so that you are able to breathe effortlessly. Rhinoplasty, on the other hand, is a cosmetic surgery procedure which is done for enhancing the beauty of nose or correcting the inborn abnormalities of the nose. However, there are still many people who remain puzzled when it comes to identifying the difference between rhinoplasty and septoplasty. At times, septoplasty is also performed to prevent recurring nosebleeds and to modify septal perforation that occurs mostly due to snorting certain addictive substances.

Difference in procedure

In terms of operative procedure, rhinoplasty is carried out with a small incision on the internal part of the nostrils and the columella. Most of the times a graft is taken from the patient's ear to get the preferred shape of the nose. In septoplasty, an incision is made inside the wall of either the left or right part of the nose. This is followed by removal of the cartilaginous septum for improving the condition. The mucus membranes are then placed to its normal position. Septoplasty surgery in New York has become quite common amongst people who are likely to face health hazards due to deviated nasal septum.

Before performing a septoplasty operation, your surgeon will take into account various symptoms like breathing difficulties and the physical structure of your nose. Always discuss with your surgeon about the procedure, benefits and risks involved with septoplasty procedure. You would be advised to restrict physical activity for two weeks in order to avoid any kind of strain after the septoplasty surgery. If you are willing to go for a nose surgery for aesthetic reasons then consider rhinoplasty procedure. But, if your septum is damaged and you want to correct it then septoplasty is the recommended procedure for you. Nasal septoplasty in New York can be done easily with the help of professional and skilled medical professionals.

Rhinoplasty changes the shape of nose itself, where as Septoplasty just moves the septum into a normal position.

Septoplasty and rhinoplasty differ greatly in reason and purpose. Rhinoplasty changes the shape or increase and decrease the size of the nose, Septoplasty on the other hand is more of a corrective procedure to a bent septum.

Thanks for the nice and informative post. Both the procedures are related to the nose, but the purpose of each is different. The healing time of both the surgeries is not the same. Septoplasty has a faster recovery time and quicker healing than Rhinoplasty.
