Hello pss,

So I got my first Rhinoplasty three weeks ago, and I'm a little bit nervous about how it's going to look.

From day 2 or 3 I was concerned with how it was looking (Apparently everyone does this). Mostly because the tip is very big and round. The main change I was going for was to shave down the bump, and make my nose a little less long. But now I have this big ball in the front of my nose, which makes me want my old nose back.

Right now I'm a just little bit worried, but that's only because I know my surgeon is highly qualified and has over 15 years of experience. If I wasn't confident in my surgeon, I'd be very very worried right now.

Here's a photo, left side being current (21 days) and the right side being how I imagine (hope) it will turn out. I modified the photo myself.



Do you guys think with time my nose will look like the right side image? Or am I just dreaming? I hope the bulbous tip is only because of swelling. I do think it's swelling because it does feel tender/hurts a little when I touch it.

Anyways, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I go to my doctor in two weeks again because he wants to see how the swelling is progressing. He did mention he can do some sort of steroid shot if he feels it's needed, which I obviously want lol.

I haven't had my primary yet so I am not qualified to say for sure, but it looks like you have a lot of swelling which is to be expected for being only 21 days out. Apparently the swelling will be most prominent in the tip area that you have described. As to whether or not your nose will turn out like the image-- only time will tell, but it seems like you will have a more accurate version of your nose at around 6 months. I am planning on having some tip work done among other things and expect to look horrible for 3 months at the minimum. Maybe you could take some Quercetin and Bromelain supplements to help the process along. Good luck!

You are absolutely right the swelling stays for some time, but lots of people are happy with their nose the day the bandage comes off. Including my close cousin and my brother.

In my opinion and from what I read online, every doctor will blame a larger nose on swelling. Today I'm feeling less positive about it, and mentally preparing for a second surgery in a year or so.

I'm sorry, I hope it improves. You may have required more grafting or other techniques due to anatomical differences which will affect the severity of your swelling. Whether your surgery was open or closed will also have an impact on the immediate results. Also, at around 6 months you can speak to your surgeon about cortisone shots, which are used to reduce unresolved swelling. Try to stay positive and update us as you progress, you're only a few weeks post surgery and your nose has been through a lot! Maybe try taking pictures so you can more accurately observe the changes that are occurring.
