Rhinoplasty – Biggest Regret Ever - Too Risky – Don’t do it! I’ve ruined my natural beauty and wish this was a nightmare I could wake up from. My nose was not that bad but from time to time throughout the years, I sometimes wished it was not so wide when I smiled. I didn’t like that the ball shape at the tip of my nose, especially when I laughed, so decided to get it contoured. I explained to the doctor that I didn’t want to lose my ethnic appearance (Hispanic and Native American) but now tip is upturned, thus losing my ethnic look that I loved. He recommended also narrowing the bridge a little which I thought was a good idea. We never discussed removing/shortening my bottom portion of my nose. I thought that if I fixed it, I would gain more confidence. I traded in my nose for a snout and am more depressed than I have ever been in my life. How stupid I feel to take such a risk. I thought I did enough homework and thought I could only benefit from narrowing my nose. The doctor’s website said he always uses a subtle approach so I thought I was safe. I did my homework, checked out his credentials (board certified with no complaints) and reviews. Had two consultations with him where he showed me hundreds of pictures he said were his work (I now wonder if they belonged to his partner). I now have a large unattractive gap between my mouth and nose and my nose looks like a triangle that sits way too high on my face. I can see my nostrils when I look in the mirror and cry because it resembles a pig’s snout. It’s not worth it people. Learn to love what God gave you and don’t put your trust into mere men, who only want your money. This doctor talked me into other procedures as well, that I don’t believe I needed and all procedures appear to be a failure at this time. It has been almost a month so hopefully my appearance will improve but at this time, I don’t even want to leave the house and am more self conscious than ever. |
Sorry about your experience but give it time It's difficult to judge a nose in one month post op. Usually you need to wait near year for all swelling to subside. However your complaint seems to be in regard to the nasiolabial angle of your nose. In woman that angle according to experts should be ideally between 90 to 110 degrees. Your nose the way you describe it seems to be over rotated. There are ways to change that with tip surgery. Hopefully the projection of your nose is not too short. If it is that would require a graft to lengthen it. There are fixes but you need a very qualified surgeon. Some nose surgeons have more experience with ethnic noses, then others so best to do research with that in mind. For general info on revision rhinoplasty check out Nose Revision Surgery and Surgeons Best of luck!;) |
Thank you |
It takes a good year and sometimes longer to really see what the final results are! It's definitely an adjustment. I had to learn how to smile again with a "new" nose. But as time passes you will become more accustomed. Pictures would be great to see. I am sure you look great. To reduce swelling and aid healing process I used Arnica Montana I purchased at this store. Amazon.com:BlueOutDeals Storefront Hope that helps :) |
Hi Lynn, Do you have any updates? It sounds like you had quite a bit of swelling. |
Hi, I was wondering if you have decided to do a revision or not or if you are doing better or not. I had a nose job a year ago and I regret it so much but I don't know how to get over it. |

I would say, it is very important to wisely choose your plastic surgeon. The best way is to ask the feedback of patients and know his success rate. |
I am very sorry about your experience. But it sometime depends upon the surgeons. Before going for surgery you need to select the best doctors who are expert in this field and who have a very good review. Also sometime it will recovers with the time. For that the best rhinoplasty surgeons can only guide you correctly. |
if you are just post op, give it time, swelling doesnt go away over night. And if you dont like the result. a revision is an option :) |
