Hello All - I had a rhinoplasty done 4 weeks ago. Very happy with the look of my new nose, but what I'm now noticing is that my lower lip comes down so low that when my mouth is at rest, you can't see my upper teeth at all - just my lower teeth. I think my upper lip was pretty long before the rhinoplasty but think I could still see my upper teeth. In doing some research, it looks like an upper lip lift is an option. Maybe I should be posting this on the "lip" section but wondered if anyone experienced this post-rhinoplasty and had it corrected? Of course, this could be due to swelling but if not, wanted to start researching my options.

You should probably give it more time. I couldn't fully smile for awhile because my lip was stiff and it was hard to lift up when smiling. It's from swelling

Hi, I also have noticed that my upper lip is past my top teeth at rest, I'm really concerned! I'm 17 days post op and also realise that it could be swelling, saw surgeon again yesterday and he said that it's swelling! I'm very sceptical at the moment, find it hard to believe that it will lift up in time, I hope it does though as I will seriously consider a fix as I look quite wierd when I talk and smile at present, I had an over projected tip and read that sometime when rhinoplasty is carried out the depressor septi is resected to avoid tip droop when smiling, I had asked doctor if he had cut muscle and he said no, bot some muscle is disturbed at septum and that it takes awhile to re-attach. He has informed me that it will 100% return to normal, I hope it does! Any opinions would be much appreciated? Ben

Interesting comments. May i pls ask you whether you had your surgery in Wales, who was your surgeon (as I am also from Europe)?

The upper will drop for a while after a rhino since sensory muscles in the upper lip are under a state of 'shock' if you can see what I mean. In fact you would nt be able to move your upper lip for a while after a rhino.
