Hi all,
Just looking for some opinions - I am 4 days post rhinoplasty (closed procedure) and have been doing fine with recovery up to now. Worst was the first night with packing in my nose & feeling suffocated, but have been feeling better by the minute. Yesterday @ 3 days post op I did some housecleaning & definitely overdid it (was feeling so good I forgot about restrictions). The sign that I overdid it was a pretty steady and sudden nosebleed from right nostril which lasted about 20 minutes. Per home care instructions I laid back, iced nostril and then cleaned with peroxide soaked swab and ointment once the bleeding stopped.

After this incident I noticed the side that had the nosebleed is bigger, more swollen on the inside and outside and almost looks like it dropped a bit at the bottom where my nose begins. I was thinking maybe I ruptured a suture or maybe it's just swelling. Anyone ever have this or hear of this happening? Plan to call my surgeon tomorrow & ask but today is Sunday & I'm kind of freaked out at the thought that I messed something up.

It's normal to be more swollen after bleeding. Plus, the healing process is usually uneven and the sides or nostrils could look assymetrical for some time. But check with your doctor for reassurance.

Agree. The nose in general will change daily. I remember I was in a panic post op because I looked like miss piggy with an upturned nose. It gradually dropped each day. Also, my nose was uneven for the first few weeks post op. My nose was still randomly bleeding at days 3 and 4, so I'm sure you are going to be ok. Keep us updated!
