Scared of my upcoming rhinoplasty surgery!
I'm having my revision rhinoplasty the day after tomorrow and I am starting to get really nervous. I forgot how nervewracking this time is! What did you all do to calm your nerves prior to the surgery? I know it's morbid but I just can't get the image of my doctor telling my family I died during the surgery out of my head. Would really appreciate some helpful words right now! :(
Don't think of the worst. Be positive. It's not good to go into
surgery all scared. I did just that though. I even cried. But I was more scared
of not liking my nose after surgery, than the real surgery.
You will be fine. You have gone through it before. It's normal to be nervoius.
But don't go crazy obsessing with negative thoughts. Think how great your nose will be.
Keep us posted on your outcome and post-op experience.
When did you have your first surgery??
Last March. Thank you for your reply, that really helped :) I WAS more nervous about whether or not I would like the result, but now I'm just more nervous that something will go wrong during the procedure. Better to be alive with an insecurity than dead lol. My doctor said it's only going to be an hour tops, since what I'm getting done is pretty minor, but still. It didn't feel feel real until last night. i can't believe it's going to be tomorrow already!
General anesthesia is exceedingly safe now, but no surgery is without risk.
Anyway, I was a wreck last night, but I'm calm right now. I still have butterflies, but now I'm more anxious than scared. I'm just thinking about how much slimmer and straighter my nose is going to be, how much better it's going to photograph, and how much I'm going to enjoy my upcoming birthday with my new nose :). Not to mention I have the next two weeks off work to essentially relax and do nothing
let us know how you heal and is it better or worse compared to your first rhino?!
I hope all went well and you are feeling better.
I just got my primary this past Friday and I wasn't nervous until I was getting ready to go into the OR. I got on that surgery table and started shaking so bad but the nurse kept reminding me how normal it is to be nervous and how many other people have been in my spot and theres nothing wrong with being nervous. Before I knew it I was out and waking up in the recovery room. It was weird that I was so calm leading up to the day of my surgery though...I just felt like things happen the way they're supposed to happen and it just isnt my time to go yet lol...and everything went fine. Millions of people get surgery every day and complications are so rare. Stay positive, Good luck and happy healing :0)
hi everyone! i am on my third day post op and it is incredible how different my ecovery process has been this time around. since i only had a minor osteotomy, the recovery is accordingly less stressful.i dont even remember the first few days after my surgery last year, my eyes were practically swollen shut and completely black and blue. right now i have hardly any bruising at all and i only get tired after i take thehydrocodene ive been prescribed for the pain. i also dont have any packing inside of my nose, so i dont have to breathe out of my mouth which has made a world of difference. the only problem ive had was with the dried blood at the end of my nostrils. ive woken up to find myself picking at it a couple of times now!
i get my splint off next tuesday and im both excited and nervous. im trying to mentally prepare myself for how swollen its going to look. right before the surgery, my doctor and i discussed what he was going to do to it, and i asked if he could do anythibg to the tip but he said no because it would be too risky and since i was only a year post op from the primary, any additional deswelling would make it look pinched. i was bummed, but i know hes right.
also i just want to add that the day of, i wasnt nervous at all. i think getting to the hospital and talking to the friendly staffreminded me of how legit everything was.
thank you for reading, i will try to update as much as i can
Very happy for you!! Glad everything went well!!
I'm sure your doctor knows what he's doing.
Yes, the nose will be swallen after the vast is taken off, but it's part of the process as you know. I hope you are happy with it and it will only get better with each week passing!!
