Hi, I'm in my early 20s and considering an augmentation rhinoplasty to project the nose and the nose bridge of my rather flat nose. But I've got my concerns, which may apply to both augmentation and reduction rhinoplasty. It would be helpful if anyone can address some of my concerns.

1) Is there a chance of damaging any nerves while operating on the nose? If the nerves are damaged, will any other part of the face be affected (such as inability to smile)?

2) Is the silicon implant or any facial implant safe even after 20 or 40 years? Any sort of statistics being done perhaps?

3) Is there a risk of the doctor totally messing up my face? I really just need my nose to be projected more so it won't alter my appearance drastically if anything happens, right?

Thank you for addressing any of my 3 concerns about this operation. Of course, I'll be asking doctors about these when the time comes. I just want to get some idea.

If unsatisfying result is coming then you can under go for secondary surgery.

I think anyone that is uncomfortable with their nose should get it done by rhinoplasty surgery.

Don't get a silicone implant. And for that matter don't get a rib cartilage graft either.

If I were you I would play it safe and at least consider doing some injectable fillers to build up the bridge of the nose. They're temporary but it's an option to consider. I don't know how much you want to build it up so it may not work but non surgical nose jobs using Radiesse and Juvederm ultra plus are really catching on but they only add to your nose, not make it smaller and in your case that is exactly what you need.

Don't go with a silicone implant. They do NOT last and I have heard that they always work their way out of the nose and poke through the skin eventually. It could be a decade or twenty years later but it will happen.

And yes a lot of surgeons will totally mess up your nose so be careful. Are you of asian ethnicity? The reason I ask is because I know augmentation rhinoplasty is more common for the ethnicity. If so go with someone that specializes in asian rhinoplasty.

I would actually like to get augmentation at the top bridge of my nose. I had rhinoplasty and the top bridge is too narrow. In itself a narrow bridge isn't bad, but when the tip is so much wider the contrast makes your tip look worse and your eyes closer together. I was thinking of experimenting with injectable fillers in this area but I think the change I want is too subtle for those. I would be afraid of making it looks really odd.
