Default Sleeping Next to Someone After Surgery?

Hi all. I'm getting my surgery done in early June and I have a quick question. How soon after surgery is it safe to sleep next to someone? My boyfriend and I usually share a bed, and I'm afraid he might knock my nose by accident if we sleep next to each other (this doesn't happen often, but he has accidentally bumped into me before once or twice). Any ideas?

Hi,
the first few months post-op you have to be really careful not only with your sleeping, but in general. You don't want any incidents. For the first three weeks after your surgery you will sleep on your back and your head must be elevated on three pillows. Not only do you want the person sleeping next to you to be careful, but yourself as well. They don't want you sleeping on your side or face being pressed against a pillow to interfere with the healing process. To me sleeping on 2-3 pillows and on my back was uncomfortable. But you will live through it.
Goodluck with your surgery.

Now...if your bf has some crazy moves in bed while sleeping, maybe don't sleep next to eachother the first few weeks. I didn't have a problem with my husband sleeping next to me, and honestly I never thought about it.
And you should ask your doctor this question!!!

Oh gosh I was SO scared of this post-op! I have pets too so I was even more concerned! You have to sleep on your back, inclined, for a short while, so that helped keep any accidents from happening. I did sleep on the couch for a few nights because I had such trouble sleeping sitting up (and the arm of the couch helped out with that!) I slept facing away from him when I was able to lay on my side to avoid any accidents...but I still worry about it and I'm 4 mths post-op!
