Alright guys let's go here. We should make a list of who are the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the country. No no that doesn't mean the ones that spend the top amount on their marketing to appear the best, I'm talking about the plastic surgeons academically considered to be the best of the best. What I hate is some of these self proclaimed best rhinoplasty surgeons in Los Angeles are only considered the best because they spend so much to be known when they don't even have much talent and haven't been doing it that long!!

I'm going to get this thing going with my first vote!

Dr. Dean Toriumi - Chicago
Head of the Division of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery
College of Medicine
University of Illinois at Chicago

I think Dr. Tourami makes everyone's list... dude is a legend. He doesn't spend anything on flashy marketing or being on TV shows because he doesn't need to. He's been around a long time and everyone in the academic circles seems to give him top ranks. Everyone says he's one of the best revision rhinoplasty surgeons not only in the midwest but the country. Never went to him because I live 2000 miles away now but I wish I could. I also want to give him props for not charging ripoff prices like a few of the west coast surgeons do even though their work isn't anything amazing. I mean ask his competitors and even they admit he's one of the best. This is one of those doctors you just got to respect because he does business the old fashioned way, hard work + continued academic commitment = top reputation. I know his specialty is as one of the best surgeons for ethnic rhinoplasty.

Haven't been to him this is just based on what I've researched. He would be my #1 vote among the best rhinoplasty surgeon reviews. Would definitely dig meeting him and having him do my nose!

We should create a top list for each major city! That would be helpful for those of us who don't want to fly all over the country! Dean Toriumi seems like he is the best from what I've heard and seen pictures from but I don't know anyone who has gone to him.

Ok, being that I'm in LA I will name a doctor who is great here:

Dr. Paul Nassif is amazing at very detailed procedures using cartilage grafts and doing very difficult noses. He did my friend's nose which has come out beautifully and was an extremely complex nose to deal with. The drawback is that he is ridiculously over expensive. In fact I don't think I have heard of such high prices for a nose surgery even WITH a complex nose. I think it was like 30 grand. yikes! BUT my friend did walk away with a great nose.

i'm not saying he's a bad doctor, but from the dr. nassif reviews i've heard he does seem a bit unscrupulous in some of his business practices IMO. the guy obviously spends a ton on advertising and i heard on another message board that he was real buddy-buddy with them so they would delete bad reviews said about him - can't confirm this is true or not but just want to mention it. what i do know for sure he is runs an aggressive marketing campaign none the less! he didn't even complete his fellowship until '98 i think so what, he's been practicing on his own only ten years now? come on we got doctors that have been doing this 20 to 40 years i don't think a freshman like him that is where he is partly bec of aggressive marketing deserves to make the cut yet.

i give a vote for plastic surgeon dr. daniel becker. i think he's out of new jersey or somewhere around there. the dr. becker reviews i've heard have been good and i know he takes on hard stuff for secondary rhinoplasty. i wouldn't place him in the top 5 best plastic surgeons for noses but maybe the top 10 or 20 in the country from what i know.

Nassif is a rip off! I don't know who this guy thinks he is but he charges waaayyy too much! Yeah sure you usually get what you pay for but there's no reason why a rookie plastic surgeon like him should be charging MORE THAN the top respected nose surgeons in the country that have been around decades!!!! What makes him think his work is worth more than them huh? He's a good surgeon but there are several other plastic surgeons in LA that are just as good and better that charge less than he does! I'm not talking about the bargain basement doctors either I'm talking about surgeons like Dr. Torami, Raj Kanodia that does all the celebrities (Ashlee Simpson, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Aniston + more) and the world famous Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills charges less! NOOO REASON why he deserves to charge more than them. Maybe it's bec he married up to a Maloof that already has hundreds of millions of old family money (his wife's family owns Palm's casino in Vegas) so to him the NORMAL PREMIUM PRICE for a nosejob isn't good enough compared to the money he married into probably.

BOTTOM LINE: He's a good doctor for being a newbie but he's overcharging way too much!!! and your doctors ethics should be considered just as important as talent! I have friends in Beverly Hills with mucho dinero that could afford every doctor in the world but they look down on Nassif because of his pricing and won't go to him because of it, not because of any lack of talent he has! if you read this Dr. Nassif know that you will build more respect in the long run if you play and price fairly like your peers do!! You know you're overcharging when the old money in 90210 even thinks you're overpriced!!!

yeah did you know w magazine listed dr. toriumi as one of the top 5 rhinoplasty surgeons in the world? so yeah it is crazy if that other doctor you're talking about thinks he deserves to charge more than him!

ok so here's a new one that hasn't been mentioned. he was also on that w magazine list of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world. who would have though there would be new orleans plastic surgeons that were actually good? i'll copy and paste his 411 for ya:

can you post the link to that article? so dr. toriumi and dr. calvin johnson were on the list but who were the other 3 plastic surgeons? like everyone i've heard great reviews on dr. toriumi but notta on that other guy.

t sucks that the best plastic surgeons in new york and los angeles what do u do if u live way far away? do u really have to travel that far just to get decent work?

I've heard some good things about Dr. Bahman Guyuron in Cleveland OH but never went to him myself. He's been around the block a while I can tell you that.

I believe it is most ethical for me to not comment one way or another on this topic, which is why I've avoided it. Unrelated I would like to mention an interesting tidbit about Dr. Toriumi. He started off as an open guy. Then he began opting for closed instead, only to turn back to being an advocate of the open technique. Going from open > closed > open shows great evolution. I'm proud of Dean for this. You want a doctor that has vast experience with both methods, that can present you with both options. True the closed technique will not be applicable to most advanced tip work, but you want a doctor that is well versed in both so he can make the judgment of what method is most appropriate.

Also as mentioned above by another user, these (and any) message board only represents opinions, which can be skewed by surgeons themselves. What do I recommend? Toriumi is probably the most respected rhinoplasty surgeon in America, universally among both patients and peers. There's no harm in contacting his office and getting the name of a plastic surgeon he recommends in whatever area you reside.
