Feeling extremely depressed after my revision rhinoplasty...
To make a long story short, I had my primary (closed rhinoplasty) 2 years and 2 months ago. I had my nose bridge (dorsum) built up with an L-shaped silicone implant (I have a very Asian nose, but the rest of my features are Caucasian, so I look very weird). I seem to have thick, oily skin at the base/tip of my nose.
Anyways, the only thing I was happy about after the first operation was the height and definition I got on my nose bridge. I wanted the tip to be pointier and my nose to be less wide, but the doctor did not do anything else to my nose because he was convinced that the implant would push my nose up and make it looks less wide...well it didn't really.
The implant shifted to the right over time.
So I got it revised by a reputable doctor 3 weeks and 5 days ago. During the open rhinoplasty, he took the implant out and replaced it with ear cartilage and also built my tip up with cartilage and gave me an alar base reduction. I think the alar base reduction went okay. But my nose is still so ugly. Tip is all hard, rounder, and wider and bigger than before. Not at all what I wanted. I asked for a more feminine and defined nose. Now both sides of my profile still look different and really fat. My nose is skewed and crooked with no shape, no definition. He says there is still water in my nose and I'm still swollen at this point. But I'm worried and depressed that he's just BSing me.
If anyone wants to see more details on my nose and a photo of my nose please go here: Depressed :(, Message Boards, Cosmetic Surgery Message Boards, Forums, Skin Care, Chats
But here's the photo anyway @ 12 days...but I don't see much of a difference at almost 4 weeks.
Can anyone give me some hope? Share your experiences? Thank you. :)
Hi Smile Baby,
Honestly I like the results of your last surgery. In my opinion the first surgery gave yr nose an agry look if you see what I mean but this one made it slightly more feminine. I do nt have experience with silicone but I think it can be stronger than cartilege harvested from soft flexible parts of the body so ear cartilage might give you a more softer look, however I am not a plastic surgeon. I like the results.
Yeah I know what you mean. But the 2 sides are still different and my nose still feels huge and undefined (like a big blob). While I hope it is "just swelling"...I feel like hope is draining. I'm just worried that the cartilage he used doesn't give enough support for definition and that the cartilage he used at the tip is too wide. The silicone had a concentrated "tip" while this cartilage he put in there has more surface area. And also...uneveness. :(
I think you should wait and see what happens. Since, this was your second rhino, you know from your first experience with this type of surgery, that it takes a long time for the nose to heal and the bones/cartilage to take their final shape. Why are you so worried about it only 12 days after your revision???
How was your healing with the first procedure a year ago? Did it take a long time for your final result to show??
I had my nose done about three months ago. I posted before and after pics here: http://www.plasticsurgeryspot.com/no...ocedure-3.html
Check them out and see the difference. I had a closed rhinoplasty. My nose is still healing and I am not 100% happy with it yet. I hope it will get smaller within the next 3 to 4 months. I see how it swells and shrinks everyday. I had work done on my tip to make it more refined/defined, and every morning I wake up the tip is very swollen. Sometimes it takes about an hour to go down, sometimes more. I also see a difference in the bridge area.Sometimes it feels like i have a slight bumb, and sometimes it feels/looks super straight. I guess it's part of the process. I have no choice but to wait. I also worry at times and wonder if the shrink-wrapping is still going on... But only time will tell.
I hope your nose is looking better for you now and that you are happier with it!
Ok...sweetie... your nose is awesome! I am so JEALOUS. The after pics are INCREDIBLE. you have a beautiful shape & I love the (new) defined tip. If its only been 3weeks, you definitely need to wait it out-- it will look even better. I think it looks great now. PLEASE tell me your doctor-- if you are in L.A.
I am looking for a revision rhinoplasty specialist.
Do not get another nose job.
