ReaLLy stressed about upcoming rhino :(

My surgery is in 3 weeks from today. I can't believe how stressed out i am. I mean, i'm excited too, but more stressed out than anything. i am just so worried about going under the knife. I just keep thinking.. what if i don't wake up?! I'm also stressed out because my mom doesn't know about it. I reaally want to tell her, but i know she won't understand (she doesn't really believe in ANY kind of plastic surgery) I know if i tell her all she will do is make me more stressed out because it will start a huge fight about how wrong i am for doing this... I also feel like she'll worry about it just as much as I am, and i don't want to do that to her... I also recently watched a youTube video this girl made who got a rhino and her cast was tighter on 1 side than the other, so whenever she got it taken off, her nose was all crooked. Now i'm kinda worried about that.. lol.... was anybody else majorly stressed out about surgery?! Does the anesthesiologist usually talk to you before the surgery? How long were you in recovery before they let you go home? This board has been very helpful! i just can't wait for my surgery to be over and i hope i'm still here to tell you guys about it!!! :( :)

Fancy -

If you're having misgivings, you can always postpone it until you're a little bit more comfortable. Many check out a few more surgeons just to be sure you're making the right choice. Last minutes jitters are common, but you should be more excited than anything.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hey Fancy,
you got some responses in your original post a couple of weeks ago:

Like we all say, anxiety is normal prior to surgery. And I was especially worried when I went to the doctor's office the day of the surgery. But I was not worried about the anesthesia, but more about the outcome and result of the surgery, my pulse was going crazy. The anesthesiologist should come and talk to you about 10 minutes before you go into surgery and i think he/she will easy your mind. You will be more relaxed. As soon as they put you on the operating table, they will give you some drugs through your vein and you will be asleep before you know it. Recovery after surgery will be about 30 minutes or so.
Don't worry too much about it.
I don't think that going to more surgeons will help you feel less stressed out. You seem to have picked your doctor and it's not him who worries you, but the procedure itself...

Keep us posted.

Thank you guys for the advice and suggestions... i AM super stressed out, but i am 100% sure that i want to go through with this you know?((im getting married in sept. so that's my main motivation)) i am the kinda person that always reads into things way more than i probably should. I was under general anesthesia about 4 years ago, and it was an emergency surgery, and i always think that it was probably good that it happened BEFORE i had time to go home and look about 'general anesthesia side effects' on the internet! lol anyway.. i had no complications from it or anything, i'm just still worried... some days i feel all brave and ready, other days i feel like crying..lol. i've been watching some 'nose job blogs' on youtube and that actually kinda helps seeing & hearing peoples actual experience... anyway.. thanks again! like i said, this board has been a big help! =)

Sorry to break this to you but I think it may not be exactly the right choice to go under the surgery if you are all that stressed out! I feel like the urge for you to get a rhinoplasty before the wedding is higher than your urge to get a nice outcome. I'm pretty sure you have done your research in choosing the right PS. But if your mind is not yet comfortable with your surgeon or surgery, something might go worng and you will blame yourself for not waiting longer.

Fancy,
I think you should go for it. Obviously you are not double questioning your surgeon or if you should really get rhinoplasty or not. You are scared of the anesthesia. This is normal. But from what you are saying, you've had a previous surgery and had been under anesthesia before, so you know the feeling of going under and waking up afterwards.
In my opinion, get off any plastic surgery blogs or forums, you are obsessing over it and this makes you even more stressed out. Stop searching the internet for answers and opinions. You've done your share of all this, it seems like.
Just relax. You want this so much and you are determined to do it. There is a risk in any surgery. You need to stay positive and don't over think it.

Yes, i really like my surgeon. He seems very knowledgeable and has done many rhinos. i saw many before/after pictures of his work (with noses similar to mine) and they all looked very good afterwards... I'm not worried about that part in the least. Also, getting a rhino is something i've wanted to do since i was like 13 (i'm 28 now) So, my upcoming wedding may have been the push i needed to actually get the surgery, but it is not the only reason i'm getting one.. I feel like my fears about the actual surgery are normal, i mean, doesn't everybody get nervous about getting surgery? my nervousness just may be a little more over-dramatic than most... i get stressed very easily (Something i need to work on obviously).. lol..

EZSL - i think your right about me needing to get off of blogs and forums. That's probably a good idea for me to do from now until my surgery. I just KnoW after i get this done, i won't regret it.. i just want to start the recovery process already!.. hehe =)
