wow if swelling from rhinoplasty takes this long and is this extreme, how do even surgeons know what the nose is gonna look like? does the swelling take time (like a couple of hours) so while they are sculpting they can see it? i don't know if i could wait this long to tell what it looks like but maybe depending what you do maybe it doesn't take as long.

good nose job though!

Question Tip is still Blobby

I had a rhinoplasty to reduce my nose tip... so my doctor removed cartilage & fat under the nasal tip and the surgery dint last for more than 1hr... I had the surgery 3 months ago.. I can see that the tip of my nose has reduced in length but the nose tip is still bulbous. its fatter than before. its swollen badly. I did see the swelling go down in the last month but this month it is jus bad. its so huuuge. I can feel the cartilage swollen inside my nose. Not sure if the swelling will ever go down but after reading the open post here, my hopes are perked up. I wish it goes down atleast a bit.. I dont feel like makin a public appearance with the swelling Also I wanted to know if the fat removed from the tip of my nose will grow bac in excess and get deposited?? kind of like it taking revenge on me for removing from its place?? PLS HELP

Most plastic surgery results in an unnatural look. If you're ugly you will end up weird looking and ugly, perhaps with the odd feature that might conform to some sort of equation or be similar to a celebrity. Beautiful people rarely maintain their beauty through plastic surgery, and they never, ever improve their looks. Beauty is natural. If you find your face unnatractive work on the reasons, improve your confidence and the rest will follow. Surgery is rarely the answer - your new face will arrive and you'll find new reasons to be dissatisfied with it.

Oh my goodness! To see those pictures gives me a sense of relief, but I hope my swelling goes down significantly.
Earlier this month I had my cast taken off. For the first 2 days right after I had gotten my cast and bandages removed, I was IN LOVE with my nose! Now, about 3 weeks and 2 days later, my nose has turned into a swollen potato! The thing that bothers me is how nice my nose was right after the PS took the cast and bandages off... I'm assuming that because it was in a cast and so condensed for a week and was bandaged down (also right after he took the cast off he put major pressure on it to shape it down)... I feel like because of that, that is why my nose was precious for the first 2 days following the cast. Now, ESPECIALLY the bottom portion of my nose seems to be huge to me and looks like it has just blown up (this is compared to how it looked RIGHT after the cast was off). I know that specifically for me it may take 1-3 years for complete swelling to go down, but it's so hard to look in the mirror and feel so down and as if you don't see too much change.

Default Rhinoplasty in Greece

Hi, my name is Petrina and I currently live in Greece. I would also like to share my experience, as I feel it might help somebody decide upon where to have his nose operated. I was operated in Athens by Dr.Athanasios Skouras, a nose specialist, President of the Greek Academy of Functional Rhinoplasty. Mr. Skouras performs 700 rhinoplasties per year. He did a great job on my nose. Before the surgery I had a large hump on the dorsum of my nose and the tip was droopy. I also had a severe breathing problem, as my septum was deviated. My doctor corrected the deformity and created a natural -looking nose. I had no swelling and no bruising at all. My nose was so natural that nobody understood that I had undergone a surgery. My closest friends kept asking me what I had changed in my face and telling me that I was more beautiful. Dr. Skouras also corrected my septum and now, for the first time in my life, I can breathe.
I feel so thankful to my doctor! And I recommend him to anybody who would like to come to Geece to be operated. I know that he has a lot of patients coming from England just for him!

Don't worry you are not alone there.

I had the EXACT same thing.

I had my cast taken off on the thursday, nose was abit clammy looking at 1st and oily,
but then by friday and saturday it looked AMAZING!!

It was very stiff and swollen in the tip, but the up-turn curve in the tip was perfect.

I went out clubbing on saturday night and felt so happy and i finally looked nice...,
but then from sunday onwards throughout this week the tip has become EXTREMELY swollen and fat and bulbous,
and cos all the swelling is on the top-side of the tip its making the tip look down turned and droopy again!

I felt very very sad and upset and worried about this,
as i thought surely the swelling would be going down from what it was when cast came off, as that would be its max peak...,
not that it would have gotten ALOT LOT worse.

Il put link to where my pics are-LookYourBestUK

And then now with swelling-LookYourBestUK

I had a closed rhinoplasty done a few years back. It just so happened that due to scheduling conflicts, my surgery was a mere 3 weeks before a photo shoot. I was worried but really, almost 100% of the swelling and all of the bruising was gone by the time of the photo shoot.
Since you had an open rhinoplasty I'd assume it would take a little bit longer for the swelling to come down due to the high level of invasiveness.

Hate.My.Nose is on a distinguished road

Question

I have a silly question about when the Doctor(s) JUST snip the last stitch inside the nose, would the nose have taken on a lot of swelling within the time period to finish the surgery? If not, could they not take a picture of what it is supposed to look like b4 the swelling starts & finishes after the alloted time it takes to no longer be swollen...?

Or is it more of a guessing game as to just how your nose will look? I mean you are the one to choose it, & figure out precisely what it should look like with their guidance, but it still may have a high chance of not turning out that way?

I am just curious. Thanks, as I've just started to look into this for myself.

There should be no guesswork when it comes to PS. Many times even though you provide the guidelines of how you want your PS to go, surgeons sometimes are too aggressive or utilize some sort of template style for everyone. Each situation is individually dependent. Cookie cutter surgeons are not desirable at all. Be very careful concerning the surgeon you choose, as it can make all of the difference.
