Hi Everyone!
I just had my Rhinoplasty (last wednesday). I took off my cast yesterday and I absolutely love the results, even with the swelling However, I had a couple questions I was wandering if someone can help me out. My doctor never packed my nose (he believed it was unnecessary and often lead to infection). When he did take my cast off I was hoping he would clean inside the nose like other patients who usually have packed noses, but he didnt. No my nose is really stuffed and I cant breathe from it at all. Does anyone recommend how I can clean the inside of my nose without messing up the shape?

I apologize if my question sounds a little naive. But this forum is amazing so I thought I would try it out.

Also, my second question is that he did not ask me to tape my nose after taking my cast off? Is that unusual? Should I do it anyways? I know a lot of people in my parents country are told to tape their months for like 2 weeks after they take their casts off to keep the shape.

Congrats on your rhinoplasty!!!!!

I hope mine goes as well as yours seems to have gone I am having mine in 2.5 weeks. So excited and nervous!

My surgeon sent out some great material on aftercare. He mentioned using QTIPS for cleaning/hygenic/sanitation purposes. They also sell nasal sprays which I believe provide moisture and an antiseptic (cleaning agent). I was told to use QTips to clean them for at least 6-9 months. Also, remember to NEVER blow your nose HARD or aggressively during this time.

Question for you: Have people who you do not see on a regular basis (every now and again) noticed your new appearance? Have they said something along the lines of "you look different?" or "you look great?" Thanks!

Congrats Cal Girl! Its so nice when people are happy with their results. Just out of curiousity, what surgeon did you go see?

Leave the tape on, I think. I left mine on for a week after. call your doc though, he should be willing to answer these questions.

He actually did not give me any tape or anything. He told me he doesnt believe that it does anything. PM me and I'll let you know who it is.

Oh, well, if he didn't tape it (sorry, I misunderstood your second post) Then don't worry about it!
