| Pics are up-- revision or not??! pls help! I finally figured out how to post pics and I'm desperate for feedback. My nose has bothered me since my primary 8 yrs ago. I don't think it is horrendous but there are definitely some issues that I hoped (and surgeons confirmed) could be improved upon.
The issue is this: after reading so many revision horror stories, I'm worried it may turn out worse! What do you guys think? Should I leave it alone or go for it?
Thanks in advance for your feedback. I need to make a decision soon as I can only have surgery in the summertime due to family and work... , Nose Surgery, Nose Job, Rhinoplasty, Pictures, Photos

| thanks for the advice everyone. I can't believe most of you don't find the nostrils and pinching obvious signs of a nose job, but I guess revision is not as simple as I thought and maybe I'd be best off leaving it alone or thinking on it some more before jumping under the knife this summer.
If anyone else sees what I see, can you let me know I'm not crazy?! |

| You're not crazy. I see the alar retraction you're talking about. As to the pinching and obvious signs of a previous nose job, my perception is not sharp enough to pick it up.
Not sure what to tell you as to seeking a revision. I have the "advantage" of needing several different procedures done, which it makes it easier to justify the high cost of revision surgery. Not entirely sure whether I would pursue it if I were in your shoes; that's ultimately up to you and what you find out in the course of consultations. |

| Thanks for making me feel more sane Norm! It would be worth the cost to me so that I stop taking pics only from certain angles and I stop obsessing over "what if" it could be better. Luckily I'm not strapped for cash and this won't impact my family's way of life at all or I wouldn't even consider it. I just think I'd be happier with my appearance without the retraction and just need to feel confident that my final choice for a surgeon is confident in his ability to get rid of it without obvious grafting etc... |

| I think your nose does look very good just as it is! I do know what you're talking about regarding the nostril asymmetry though - my base view asymmetry is almost exactly the same as yours. It personally drives me crazy, and I always worry people are noticing it, but everyone I've asked assures me it's not very noticeable at all unless they're looking at me from underneath, which is highly unlikely, lol. (Good thing I'm not very tall!) I have been considering getting a primary rhino, but I would never even consider it if it weren't for the nostril asymmetry (I think it also looks really funky when I tilt my chin up). I'm wondering, like you, if I should just leave well enough alone, especially after your response to my post that most of the doctors you saw said that the base asymmetry could probably not be improved much. I really fear that the risks may far outweigh the benefit. So many people have such horrible luck with their rhinoplasties, (especially revisions - they are much more complicated) and end up regreting it, at which point there's no way to ever get your old nose back. I'd leave it be. It's already prettier than mine (more refined, a bit daintier and less projected, probably from your first surgery,) and I'm totally happy with my nose besides for that nostril asymmetry! So why mess with a good thing? Just my two cents. I'll post pics soon on here, and let you know! |

| thanks LA angel! I agree about the nostril retraction-- that is my primary concern. One more consult and then I need to make my decision. Will keep you posted! |

| I think you look beautiful! If only you could see the mess of a nose I ended up with after my primary. I see why you're concerned, but, no nose is perfect and when I look at your picture I'm not staring at your nose, I am looking at your pretty eyes! I think you look good.
I wouldn't bother with the headache of a revision, there's always that chance that you'll walk away with a nose worse than before and you'll be 12k poorer, but that's just my two cents! |
