Default Looking for Surgeon for both Rhino and deviated septum

Hello,

I've got 90% airflow blockage in one nostril due to a deviated septum that I need fixed. I'm also unhappy with a large bump on my nose that has grown with age that I'd like it refined. I'm having a tough time finding a surgeon that can fix both of these issues and ultimately cut down on cost and time. Could anyone recommend a skilled surgeon that would be able to tackle both of these issues?

I'm currently located in the Portland, OR area but any suggestions in the relative area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

May I ask who told you the 90% figure, one surgeon or all the surgoens?

Well a septoplasty is part of rhinoplasty, were you talking about the cosmetic part of it?

I'm not so sure about which Portland rhinoplasty surgeon, but here is a thread from a few months back on some in Washington

Hi Angel,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I spoke with a couple of doctors about the blockage and it's been evident for years. I can shut the good nostril, attempt to breath, and almost nothing flows. Minimally I'd like to get this fixed. I just figured while I was under and someone was digging around in there, they might be able to fix the cosmetic bump on the top of my nose I've come to disslike.

I was speaking with a couple of surgeons at OHSU, one would fix the septum blockage and the other would work on the cosmetic aspect of the bump. The cosmetic surgeon wanted $6k for his portion of the work which seems steep for such a small fix (almost $4k of which are surgeon fees). I'm looking for 1 surgeon that can handle both procedures and won't charge me an arm and a leg for the cosmetic aspect of the procedure (Ideally around or under $3500).

Thanks!

Hi fatbox... I just had rhinoplasty 10 days ago and my doctor is fantastic!
He is an ENT (otolaryngologist) and a facial plastic surgeon; so, he could be a good fit for your needs as he does not only focus on the cosmetic side, but also on the medical needs of patients. However, I am in Texas

Thanks for the response Madrid! That might be a bit far away for me but I'll consider anything if the doctor is good enough.

Here are some pics. I'm a little protective of personal info on the net so I've tried to hide my eyes and such (hope you don't mind). I'm pretty disspleased with my profile. My face seems a little "buttery" to me... and no matter what I do with the side profile in photoshop, I always end up looking like Michael Jackson I wouldn't even know where to start with my nose, but it almost seems too small and beaky already.

There are issues with the root, tip, dorsum, asa, and columella.

Hi,

for what it is worth, I don't think you have a distinctly bad nose. It's not perfect, but guys with perfect noses look a little strange, no? If it really bothers you, I could see you increasing the projection slightly and making the tip turn down less. I don't mind your bridge b/c men with perfectly straight bridges in my opinion look "done"...

whatever breathing probs you have can of course also be addressed but from the pics I can't see a deviated septum?

just my two cents worth...

actually, on second look , you could bring down your dorsum a bit but I would be wary of creating a perfect slope... too metro!
