| Has anyone used Dr. Steven Pearlman for revisionary rhino in NYC? Hi everyone!
After much searching, I am most impressed with Pearlman's before and after photos and his lack of negative press across various P.S. boards. He has a few positive comments, but not as many or as much detail as I would like to have before traveling up for a consult. Does anyone know any more about him and his results? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Also, is it a bad idea to travel for revisionary surgery? I'm just starting to get a little wary since I'm sure the doc would like to see you a week, a month, two months etc... later to track your progress, and if you don't make it into town for your apts and something goes wrong with your nose during the healing process, will the doc deny any responsibility? I can't see flying to NY once a month with young kids at home and responsibilities...
If only someone could rave about a South Florida surgeon!!! |

| Pearlman has mixed results. He tends to be quite aggressive in his approach with revisions, although I have seen some good ethinc rhinoplasty revisions he has done.

| robyne,
what do you mean by aggressive? overuse of grafting? I thought his afters looked incredibly natural and could barely notice the grafts... |

| Aggressive meaning he performs open rhino when closed is possible, as well as butchering secondary rhinos.

| from what I've been reading, open is the best way to avoid mistakes in corrective (secondary) surgery, and if the surgeon is skilled at closing the incision it is not even visible (unless all the surgeons before and afters are doctored, I couldn't see the collumnellar incisions.
If you were to choose between Pearlman and traveling for a revision and Davis and staying local, who would you go with? The doc you recommended to me is too far out on the island for convenience and I honestly didn't think his pictures looked that great. |

| Website photos can be deceiving for good or bad ...
You also cannot judge a doc's capability from his or her website photos. Some docs buy the photos on their sites, as disturbing as it may seem.
Personally, I would not choose Davis or Pearlman.
Remember, I have no agenda or affiliation with any of the aforementioned surgeons.

| Robyne,
can you please pm me a rec for South Florida then? I really think it is better not to travel with all of the post op visits and stuff you are supposed to do-- don't you agree?
I do not have the flexibility to pick up and go so often-- three young kids and hubby at home...
thx!!!!!
if you don't know anyone great in South Florida, would you mind asking around with your contacts?
Also, anyone else in Plastic Surgery land can you please help me (and my fellow big nosed Floridians) out and give us a good rec for a rhino (revision in particular) specialist? |
