collaped nasal valve and deviated septum from surgery? When I was 17 I had rhinoplasty to fix my nose from being broken when I was little. Ever since that I've had difficulty breathing through one side of my nose and when I hold my head back you can even see one side or nostril is mostly closed. This is even worse when I breathe in heavy through my nose because that side completely collapses in, it's like there's no support in the cartilage or something. The CT scans pretty much confirm this and I think it's from the original rhinoplasty. I have really bad allergies and asthma which don't make it any easier.
The doctor I saw wants to do a revision rhinoplasty and use cartilage from my ear to help prop it open but he even said thats not guaranteed to work as it could collapse down the road. Is there anything that can be done for this that is a surefire solution? I just want to have a normal functioning nose like everyone else I don't get how with modern medicine in 2008 this is still so hard to do. All it is is cartilage cutting and positioning not curing cancer. |
