Bay Area rhinoplasty surgeons?

Does anyone recommend any rhinoplasty surgeons are here in Bay Area, Ca. While I know they are all just a plane ride away in LA, I would much rather be around home during the healing period. I am a Persian woman and my nose does not have the ethnic "bump" but it is slightly larger on the bridge and has a bulbous tip. I dont mind the cookie cutter nose. I have been to consult with Dr Kim in SF and Dr. Most in palo alto. Does anyone have any reviews on them? It would be greatly appreciated. I apologize, this is my first time on the website and I am not to sure how these threads work.

Thank you

Hey join the club! I am also a persian girl looking for a rhino. Although I'm from socal I'm seriously considering Dr. Kim (SF)--at least for a consult. I've been in touch with four of his patients that i found on yelp--one of them I just talked to a couple days ago over the phone. They are all very happy with their results! Don't go for cookie cutter! i see so many persian with awful nose jobs that don't fit their face and I'm trying to prevent that from happening to me. Can you please share what you thought of your consult with Dr. Kim?

Sure :D I had my consult with Dr. Kim a couple months ago and he was really honest with me about how my nose wasnt an easy surgery, which kind of freaked me out seeing that he was all about the tough reconstructive noses. Other than that, he sat me down and showed me the logistics of how nose jobs work on his fancy big screen, which was cool. While I told him I wanted a natural change, I feel like the changes he made on the computer, were TOO subtle, I couldnt even really tell the difference between my nose and the pictures. Then again thats just a computer image. I kind of feel like he lacks the artistic ability, but he is very smart (which is awesome if something goes wrong during the surgery). I've also had a consultation with Sam Most and he's persian and pretty good. But I am still having a hard time deciding!! And Kim was pretty expensive, but I guess theres no price on a nose.

hmm...wow. How much did he quote you? I want natural but I don't want subtle to the point where I'll pay a chunk of money for a change I wouldn't be able to notice. Did you see any photos in his office? That's also really strange that he said your nose wouldn't be easy...did he say why? meh

11 K :/ idk maybe thats not expensive but compared to some other doctors I went to it was. He said that the work on the tip, the "bulbousness" of it would be difficult to change and also the thickness of my skin cuz im persian and not caucasian lol

have u heard of any other bay area doctors?

prodigiousflames 05-10-2010 11:16 PM

11K???????? omg i think im gonna cry. I was really counting on him at least being in the 8-10k range. I emailed his receptionist and she said the average was 8k. Jeez he should at least bring it down a bit especially in these tough times.

I don't know much about other bay docs except Gruber but I personally don't like his work. I've seen one result from him that looked good though.

anyone else????? PLEASE

It looks like we're both suffering from the bulbous thick skin issue.

So, here's how one of my docs explained this to me.

With thin skin, picture a silk rug, with a mouse running under it. You will clearly see the mouse and its form and where it is under the rug.

Now picture a traditional thick Persian rug (haha)...with a mouse running under it. The form of the mouse will be less visible.

So this same thing applies to the nose. With thick skin, changes made underneath will be less visible on the outside, so more work needs to be done at times, for it to show on the outside. With very thin skin, even the slightest change shows on the outside, so very careful work needs to be done. So either extreme is not preferable and average skin works best...
