| i am also in the bay area and had my primary in socal which ended up being troublesome so i think you're very wise to have it done here. that said, i've also seen dr. kim but i saw him regarding a possible revision. i found him to seem quite honest and conservative but he also studied under the same dr. my primary surgeon did and he knew my surgeon and seemed hesitant to want to take on a revision.
i have also seen gruber in oakland who kim actually recommended, although i saw gruber long before my primary. he has mixed reviews, as you might've seen. i did not like him personally- his morph for me was rushed and looks alien-like and he brushed off questions and was rather rude. if you do see him and this is your primary, do request the yelp free consultation. you've probably seen a recent thread about him on the makemeheal forum- there is further information there but i'd also check out his yelp if you haven't.
i also saw stanley jacobs who i wouldn't recommend wasting your time on. you might have seen him on channel 4 with his paid promo time. his b/a book in-office is quite shabby. richard clark in sacramento is another i consulted with- he primarily does closed rhinos but he seemed a bit 'off' and didn't seem trustworthy- i can't put my finger on it.
the last doctor i saw in norcal was ramin behmand who seemed a bit less experienced and less rhino-focused but i liked his personality and morphs, if i recall correctly. he seemed to do narrower, more feminine, perhaps more cookie-cutter noses. it's been a few years since i've researched him so if there are green lights and a low-cost consult fee, i might rec seeing him for just an opinion perhaps.
i'm sorry i don't have a surgery experience to share with you. but as i mentioned, i did have my primary done by the guy who trained dr. kim and i did not have a nice result. i doubt that has any bearing at all on kim's performance as he seems well-regarded and level-headed but i don't have much else to offer, so thought i'd mention. best luck in your search! |

Wow that was extremely helpful! Thank you so much! I also agree that Dr. Kim is a little on the conservative side... maybe I am wrong. Also I have heard about Dr. Behmand too but I think his consultation fees are fairly high and like you said not much focus on the nose. Have you, or anyone, heard of Dr. Most in Stanford? He is Chief of plastic surgery, head and neck in Stanford. I had a consultation with him and he sounded promising. anyone? |

| Send me a PM, calgirl to ensure recommendations.
I am very busy. Happy but busy (keeps me out of trouble ... somewhat).

| I had a primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Behmand. I would recommend him if you want a feminine and refined nose. He is honest and pays attention to detail, which I like. I am not 100% happy with my result because it is not as small as I would like it to be, but that being said I had a huge nose to begin with and it is definitely improved. He also did a turbinectomy and septoplasty and my breathing is so much better. I've already discussed revision if swelling doesn't decrease the size in a few more months. |

| pigeon, that's quite helpful, as i was considering consulting him again regarding a revision. feminine and refined is what i asked for with my primary and did not get so it's good to see you use those terms. i'm glad you're at least mostly satisfied and while i don't know how far out you are, i'd assume you'll see small but notable changes until about a year post-op. |

| It's been exactly one year. i don't think it's going to decrease by that much but i'm going to wait a few more months for revision just in case. i have a before and after photo on this website that you can see in the older forums just search revision. |

| i agree that you probably won't see much more improvement then. i'm sorry- but i did take a look at your photos and honestly think you're looking good. i understand wanting a rather refined tip- it does make a considerable cosmetic difference, yet i must say i'd be very pleased to have your tip. if you trust dr. b, i hope you are able to have it addressed with minimal invasiveness and trouble, when the time comes. until then though, i think it looks quite lovely. |
