Um, is this normal???
 

I had my rhinoplasty done a week ago and got my splint taken off today. It's still pretty swollen; my surgeon added a strip of silicone with tape down the bridge of my nose. Here's what is making me nervous: he is making me apply pressure to the right side and the bridge of my nose down for five minutes a day until friday. As he explains it, it is as if my nose is clay that will be molded. I have done much research and have never heard of this being a common practice. Is something wrong here, or is this something normal that I just didnt know about?

Some docs recommend you apply pressure/massage post rhinoplasty, however, you must do it EXACTLY as your surgeon demonstrates. If you have any questions or doubts about your method of massage/pressure application, ask your doc immediately!!!

You will have swelling for quite some time.

Massaging is common but not that.

Be careful. More pressure than directed could really mess it up.
