I am a male in my mid twenties with a large nose. It is rather hooked and twisted to one side - Think Adrien Brody.

I finally came to terms with it and largely forgot about it as I appeared attractive from certain angles and I believe so in general.

I was punched in the nose head on, about 5 months ago and then had a door opened on it 2 months ago.

The first time, I bled for about 30 minutes and it was tender for around 1 week. I didn't have any black eyes or notacable bruising but it was tender and I felt heavy downward pressure on it. The second time it didn't bleed atlough was tender for around a week and I could feel episodes of pressure for some time after.

The annoying thing is that given that my nose was already crooked, it was hard to tell the damage. But looking at myself over the last month or so I can tell that I am less attractive generally (perhaps it is not bigger or more crooked) and at one side a lump seems to have appeared.

I am certain that the lump was not there or atleast no where near as pronouced however it is difficult to tell what other differences have occured although I am appear much less attractive and it seems generally different.

However, as a male I am reluctant to go for rhinoplasty and come back with a completely different nose - I would just want my old one back. Is it possible to shave parts off the nose? Perhaps a little at new bump and perhaps the bridge where I hit it the second time and I assume has affected the appearance?

Im talking maybe millimetres without changing the overall shape. In a sense that I would be aware that my nose was back to normal but no one would be able to tell that I have had work (as no one has said anything about my change in appearance so far as they seemingly assume that my nose was always this bad).

Chevvy, I'm sorry to hear about your injuries

What you want is likely possible, but it is hard for me to know for sure without seeing your nose. Would you mind posting pictures of the nose from the front, side, and one picture in-between?

Im afraid I don't have a working digital cam at the moment to take any.

So you think that in general there is such a prodecure that im looking for?

Did you ever see a doctor about yor injuries (CT scan, neuro assessment)? If you just have minor injuries...bruising and maybe some scar tissue, you will probably eventually have your nose back. Swelling takes months to go down (believe me). Apparently, if the scar tissue, or lump, on your nose doesn't resolve the doc can inject a steroid into it and will disolve the fibrous tissue that has developed and treat the swelling.

I didn't im afriad. I would be a bit embarrassed as I hardly had a small, symetric nose to begin with.

It has definately changed shape, albeit bigger/more lumpy, rather than any full change in position. But maybe that will subside. It has been 2 months since the second time I hurt it, and 5 months since the first.

Pics would be helpful. A good rhinoplasty doc or someone that specializes in a nose style such as yours (i.e.: ethnic, natural looking, etc.) could help you. I agree with Mr. Z, regarding paying tons of money for an "Adrian Brodyesque" nose. I can understand you want to have a natural looking nose, and I'm not saying you should get a totally different nose, which would completely change your appearance, but perhaps somehing believable and natural would be a good compromise.
