Tanning after rhinoplasty?

I'm an avid sunbather whom will be undergoing a primary rhinoplasty in March. Shall I discontinue tanning after rhinoplasty?

You can tan one month post rhinoplasty, however, as we all suspected all along, tanning beds are directly linked to causing cancer (study published 2009). You are better off with a good spray tan.

In addition to what Robyne said, tanning will contribute to swelling on some people (especially places like the nose which are so sensitive to the sun and UV rays). So if for no other reason, you want to take it easy on the tanning for a while so you your swelling settles down. :)

Sun in general is not advised on any healing laceration, as it will make the scar more visible over time. Assuming your surgery will be open and not closed, that is something to consider.

Dear avid sunbather. I was once an avid tanner as well. I'm now 41 and I'm having 11 moles suspicious moles removed. Not worth it. Stay out of tanning beds. You WILL regret it.:(

Iím more of a beach bum. To much sun is never a good idea for the skin either but I was told to wait at least 6 months after my surgery before I go back and get a tan.

I'd wait longer, Newbie, due to concern with scars.
