Hi. it's been about 12 months since I had my rhinoplasty. I'm not very happy with the result. as the swelling has gone down, it looks as if there are two dents in my bridge. and the tip doesn't look very good to me. I had a larger dorsal hump removed. the bone wasn't broken, it was only shaved. anyways, i just emailed my doctor this picture and he said he thinks it looks good. what do you think? I'm just not very happy with the result. I was told the tip would be etched and refined. it is still a tiny bit stiff, but it's been 12 months how much more can the swelling really go down? And all the doctor said when I voiced my concerns via email was It looks good, but you should come in so i can feel it. is that to get out of putting anything in writing or what? I need impartial opinions. All I wanted was a nice straight nose as small as could realistically be achieved, and I'm now very disheartened about everything. are my concerns valid? thanks...

Your nose has valleys on the sides.

You should speak to your surgeon and see his or her reaction, as well as what options he or she offers you. Unfortunately, when you sign the plethora of paperwork prior to surgery, you essentially sign your rights away. Even if a surgeon does a poor job, he or she is often let off the hook due to the paperwork you signed off on. I do not agree with this practice, however, this is the ongoing reality.

I would like to see a before picture as well for purposes of comparison.

Have you discussed this issue in person with your surgeon at all?

Yes, before pictures would be helpful if you could post a couple of those. My nose naturally had those before rhinoplasty, so it would be helpful to see what they looked like pre-op.

About the tip, it might still be swollen. Did you see this post about swelling after rhinoplasty? But at 12 months I would guess those little "valleys" can't be swelling. Most of the swelling seems to occur in the tip IMO.

here is my before from the front. I was thinking that maybe the tip is still swollen.. but it still doesn't looks like he did much to it.... I'm honestly more upset about the bridge having the "valleys" on the side, because I'm still hoping that the tip goes down. But he told me that the bridge is definitely done healing... and yes I discussed this with him, and even sent that very same picture to him, and he said, "Actually,the nose looks good in the picture." Which is very upsetting because there is no way it looks good....

Your nose is definitely improved but any top rhinoplasty surgeon should have been able to improve the ridges more that that. I don't think though it is worth paying for a revision.

Your nose had a general improved image. The problem you described in the lateral walls of the nose is known in nasal surgery as " Inverted V deformity'', is a well known complication of rhinoplasty. It is formed by the inferior borders of the nasal bones, they are abutting the covering skin of the nasal dorsun.

To resolve this complication is necessary a revision rhinoplasty, performing again lateral osteotomies to place nasal bones in the correct position, and review the position of the upper lateral cartilages, they can be partially disconnected from superior border of the nasal septum.
