Is a name doctor really necessary for lipo?

Seems to me to be a very straight forward low risk procedure. Is it really worth paying for a "name" doctor or will just a mid-level surgeon do just as good? From what I see the two things that can go wrong are lumpiness and not the same amount taken out on each side. We're not talking rocket science here I think just most qualified plastic surgeons that do lipo are just as good as the next guy that's twice the price. At least that's my 2 cents on it.

Yes it can matter. You don't want to end up like our friend Tara Reid did after bad lipo...

How in the sam hill did that woman with so much money end up up with such a horrible result?

It is not entirely true that name doctors will give you better results. It just depends on the experience of the doctor his/her knowledge. If he/she is experienced then you can expect better results. There are many unexperienced but name doctors out there who claim to have won many awards. Well it can just be a distraction. You should enquire properly about the surgeon. Ask from his patients who have been operated on by him/her. Then you can take decision for yourself.

I agree. Though you should look for the doctor's certifications and qualifications, you should also check their records - low level of repeat operations, successful surgeries, and the likes. Try to see also if the doctor operates in accredited medical facilities.

If you really want to go for a name doctor, then an affordable plastic surgery abroad can be an option. The best doctors in other countries can be very affordable.:)

It is always better to go with a board-certified PS simply because they know the procedure well and are much more experienced. Plus, a board certified surgeon ensures that things are done the right way with minimal possibility of risks.

If the procedure is not performed properly you may end up with many health and cosmetic complications. A plastic surgery gone wrong can leave you looking worse than before. I would suggest never ever compromising on quality when it comes to surgeons and surgery centers.

Plastic surgery itself involves risk and you are correct that we should never compromise on quality. It is very important that we go to a certified and qualified plastic surgeon. It doesn't mean that they have to be really expensive though. Just look into their background because some "name doctors" are not really qualified to do certain surgeries and yet they do it.
