Gastric bypass surgery or liposuction?

My friend got gastric bypass surgery and it looks great. On the other hand my sister got liposuction and it seems more convenient for wanting to really lose weight. I want to know which process would be safer and more effective in losing weight. Please give valuable suggestions.
