Here's a few that are undergoing FDA approval right now: Evolence: It's porcine collagen, which is not broken down by the body as quickly as bovine collagen. Lasts about 6 months. Puragen and Puragen Plus Facial fillers made with hyaluronic acid which is the same thing as Restylane and Juveder. The difference is Puragen and Puragen Plus are smooth gels which both products contain an anesthetic so they are less painful to inject. Aquamid This injectable filler is said to last for 10 years. Aquamid is made using biomedical materials that have been safely used for years. It uses the same biomaterial used in contact lenses and many other medical implants. It's currently used in Europe.
"Aquamid is used to remove fine lines and fill lips while Aquamid reconstruction is used to correct deep facial folds, and to fill chins and cheeks and for reconstructive use after traumatic events," says Dr. Gaboriau.
Aquamid is the one I'm most excited about. We need a good injectable filler that lasts a few years but isn't permanent. |
