| If they're able to pass something through reconciliation, I think it will be different than the Senate version that was already passed. Who knows, maybe they're take a few things out (like this) to gain more support?
Maybe this is selfish for me to say, but the only thing I truly care about was that awful idea of taxing plastic surgery... that just hit too close to home for my comfort! |

| Latest news from the Indoor Tanning Association:
"TO: Tan Tax Opponents
FROM: John Overstreet, Indoor Tanning Association
The Obama Administration and Congressional Democrats are making this week the critical week for passage of the Healthcare Reform Legislation.
At this point, several things are clear:
The House of Representatives plans to vote on the Senate Bill by the end of this week.
The Senate Bill has the 10% tan on tanning services.
House Democrats do not currently have the votes to pass the bill or they would have already passed it.
It is not too late to stop this regressive tax on Small business and your customers.
It is imperative that you continue to contact your Congressman and ask him/her to vote NO on the Senate bill and the Tan Tax.
Help spread the word. Send this link to everyone you know Stop The Tanning Tax! Help the ITA NOW!
Use the contact information on the web link to make a personal call to your Congressman and Senator. Call your Congressman first because the House of Representatives is where the next vote takes place.
Thanks for your support on this important issue."

| Things like tanning taxes are only getting in the way of healthcare reform. It won't bring in any significant tax money, but what it will do is upset a lot of people. |

| Well, based on who came up with that figure, my guess is it's probably an inflated number to say the least |

| la_angel,
You (and I) would think that particular source (Perez ... ha) would be inflating the numbers, however, they might be more reflective of the truth than we might think. I know of 6 people personally who own 5 tanning salons (2 are co-owners), and they are all either closing or seriously contemplating it. One person has 23 employees alone.
What's the next thing they're gonna tax or ban? Has anyone on the board thought about how the United States healthcare plan will affect plastic surgery as a whole? If it's anything like NIH we're all in trouble.

| Not sure if I agree with a tanning tax. But I guess we need to get used to such kind of new taxes being introduced all the time to make up for all the Government spending on various other projects including bailouts. |

| Tanning salons in my area are offering extreme promotions to try to make up for their lack of business.
