Two Increasing, Yet Odd Trends

Two types of surgeries are on the rise, and both, for much the same reason are rather odd. According to the Daily Mail, an increasing number of people don’t like what they see on video chats and are undergoing plastic surgery procedure to make themselves look better on video. In fact, it’s becoming so popular, Dr. Robert K Sigal, a surgeon in California, has a procedure called the “Face Time Facelift”, for those who are surprised by and dislike how they look on social media. In truth, how a person looks in the mirror can be much different then how they look over the web, especially when looking down at an iPhone or desk cam.

A second emerging trend is people have their toes slimmed, especially fat big toes. ABC interviewed a patient of Dr. Oliver Zong in New York, who said he had always had issues with his big toe, especially his right big toe, explaining, “It was one of those things that you’re just not comfortable with and try to hide it.” Another physician said she gets requests to have pinky toes removed, to enable women to fit into smaller shoes. The doctor said she refuses to do these types of surgeries, saying “Why fix something that’s not broken?”

I agree.
