48 year, Male, and need a Face lift... need advice.
We have all seen that Burt Reynolds, Michael Douglas, Mickey Rourke look of men who get face lifts. for some reason this and even neck lifts seem less forgiving on men- it just seems more obvious and kind of fem sometimes. I need to do something. Even my kids joke about my gobble neck and i never use to care but it is starting to look like my late father. I need advice about men and face lifts and who is a good doctor. I will fly anywhere to get it done as long as it restores what I use to have without making me look like I have had plastic surgery. I rarely see before and after pictures of men and many that I have seen look bad which is all disconcerting.

thanks, misterEd

MisterEd (love the name btw!) I totally understand your concern. As a woman about the same age as you I also am scared for me getting the 'Burt Reynolds supreme package' of not only getting a face lift, but lifting it so much as to changing his ethnicity!

What you need to do is go with a super conservative doctor who specializes in facial plastic surgery. What part of the country are you? There should be a qualified surgeon not too far (usually within 250 miles) that is super at face lifts no matter where you are. The major plastic hubs like LA and NYC are always there too since you said you don't mind fly. From the gobble neck description to me it sounds like you need a neck lift and maybe moderate face lift. There's so many different types now and I don't think you need one of the major overhaul versions just a mild to mid level type of thing at most. You may not even need that as maybe just a neck lift and Botox will do the trick! The + side for me is they are allowed to have a few wrinkles here and there so you don't have to look like you did when you were 22.

I saw pictures of some of Dr. Terrino's work in thousand oaks (greater LA) california. Sometimes to look like you have done less, you actually have to do more, despite what desperate housewife says. This means doing different procedures conservatively instead of one major facelift like good ol' burt. Terrino it showed will like give facial implants to fill back out the skin with volume and three dimensionality instead of making it all go back and look pulled. He is quite expensive but he is kinda known for being the best at this. And it could seem scary that you would be getting perhaps cheek implants, chin implant, jaw implant, neck lift, mild face lift.... BUT by doing a little of each method it can look more real from the research I have done as you are taking care of various problems of aging. Check him out for sure! But I would say you don't want to get just a face lift as my guess is your skin is deflating so if you get it pulled it will only make your face even less full and youthful (that is the look you hate!).

I think a lot of men actually look better if they just age naturally without facelifts. It gives them a more rugged manly appeal. I don't want any done up nancy boy for my man!
