Eyebrow Transplants
This is the best place on the forum that I could find to post this info. If the moderators know a better place, please move this post by all means. This is a very interesting and new procedure. I am not sure if it is FDA approved, as I obtained the info from a British website.

Plucked your eyebrows to death? Hi-tech transplants can bring them back to life | Mail Online

This sounds fascinating, but there is one thing that would frighten me... that hair from the head is used which will keep growing if not trimmed. I would rather see them develop it with artificial hair which does not need to be cut regularly.

Can you imagine what will happen if B.D.D. sufferers get this procedure? They would then grow their eyelashes out 3 inches because and to them it still won't look long enough :p

From The Daily Mail (UK):

"Hair transplant surgeon Dr Bessam Farjo, from the Institute of Trichologists, said the numbers seeking eyebrow transplants had already doubled compared to last year.
The operation, which works in much the same way as a conventional hair transplant, costs 3,500.

It sounds like this Dr. Farjo is out to peddle his service... I still hate the idea that with an eyebrow transplant the hair can grow as long as it is on your head

I wonder if Latisse would work on the eyebrows?

robyne00 03-08-2010 06:34 PM

Although not FDA approved, people have used Latisse on their eyebrows with good results.

Do their eyes turn brown when it's applied to the eyebrows? ;)

The problem with Latisse is it's so expensive that it just wouldn't make sense for most, when you can just do a couple brushstrokes of mascara on the brows to get the same result.

robyne00 03-10-2010 06:54 PM

Yes, but to be honest I have seen amazing results with Latisse.

A friend told me some doctors are prescribing their patients lumigan instead for off-label eyelash and brow enhancement. Have you heard of doctors going that route?

robyne00 03-16-2010 04:19 PM

Yes, I have. I have yet to see any results ... good or bad. Time will tell!!! :)

la_angel 03-18-2010 01:29 PM

Keep me updated :) If the doctor says that's okay, it sounds like a much more affordable way to go for sure!
