Otoplasty for a bald guy
hello I am a 27 year old male looking to get otoplasty done. I've never in my life considered doing this procedure even though i get teased sometimes about my protruding ears (especially when i was little), but now that I’m balding, they’ve become more obvious since i shave my head, my biggest question about the procedure is are the scars noticeable afterwards because i can't conceal them since i shave my head? And do ears usually come out evenly after surgery? I really don't know what to do:confused:

Cosmetic surgeries give best results when performed well. The thing is, you seek a well experienced and reliable doctor for it. Most otoplasty have shown positive results and the resulting scars will vanish over time upon the prescriptions and good diet. There is nothing to worry if you have found a trustable doctor. browse online for relevant clinics and ask around your fellow people for feedback. Good luck!

Do your research!
Hi Mothman. The appearance of scars will depend on too many factors for any general advice to be very helpful, so you'll need someone to look at your ears, your skin's resilience, etc. My main recommendation is to do very diligent research before you choose a surgeon.

When it comes to picking a surgeon, check their hospital affiliations. Hospitals perform a much more definitive background check on doctors than any individual can do, so let them do the work for you. If you're looking for someone who gives free consultations (so you can compare multiple doctors without spending a lot of money), check out LocateADoc. You can check out the results doctors have produced, find someone near you, and find out whether they offer a free consultation.

Ear pinning is otopexy, so that's the procedure you'd need. The scars are generally going to be only on the backs of your ears, and a skilled surgeon can hide them in a natural skin fold. You can expect a few weeks of swelling before the permanent results are visible, so be prepared for some downtime.
