not happy with result of ear surgery (with picture)
Just before X-mas I had the surgery and am not happy with the result. Somehow it does not seem natural to me. I believe that the outside rim (do not know anatomical term) was folded back too much. Also the top part of the ear looks sticking outwards to me. The front facing silhouette is now not showing like a "C" but strangely curvy instead. This is not what I expected. I do understand that aesthetics is subjective, but this was supposed to be an experience to make me feel better and now I feel the opposite. I did trust the surgeon that did the surgery but he is not specialized in ear surgery. Looking back and now having studied more this type of surgery, I made the mistake not visiting several doctors and take my time to form myself a good idea of risks and possibilities and so perhaps failed to manage my expectations well. Still I feel the result is not correct aesthetically. 99% of the people seem to have the front-facing contour defined by the outside rim (basically making a “C”), which is not my case and this is what I see in the mirror every day now. The surgeon recommended to stop using the strap so the ear could unfold a bit again but so far I do not see a change (I am 16 days after surgery now). I really would appreciate your opinions on the result of the surgery and in general.
Thank you all!
One common problem I see is addressing the wrong component correction. When the antihelix is over folded instead of addressing the concha bowl you can get the Over Folded Antihelix Deformity. Sometimes there are revision options depending on the original problem, what was done, healing, and many other factors.
Hope this helps,

I think your new ears look great. We can sometimes be our own worst critic. Have you tried tugging on them for a few minutes a day to losen the cartilage up?
