Regenerative Otoplasty Will this replace otoplasty in the future? Regenerative healthcare allows body parts to be grown in a lab using stem cells. It's not science fiction, check out this video from 60 minutes :) Link: Web Extra: Growing an Ear - 60 Minutes - CBS News |
One of the most amazing and encouraging things I have seen in a long time. I like when the reporter (Morley) asks if it will grow with the child, the researcher responds that it will. Gives us hope. :) Thanks, la_angel!!! :) |
Yes, I think it will be super for trauma victims that have their ears deformed or parts missing :) And of course, hopefully this will also solve the age old problem of bad otoplasty :p |
Yeah, because you know the unfortunate "success" rate of otoplasty, la_angel! |
Just think of how they can apply this to growing cartilage for the nose too! I'm excited to see what plastic surgery will look like in 10 or 15 years :) |
That was done at Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The place is headed by Dr. Anthony Atala who is also the medical director for Tengion Corp. Tengion will probably be selling this for ear reconstruction by the end of the decade. |
The otoplasty can improve the shape, the position or the proportion of the ear...........With otoplasty is created a natural shape, and brings balance and proportion to the ears and face...brazilian buttock augmentation. |
