What can I do for my double chin?? (WITH PICTURES)
Hi There! I'm a guy in his late 20's who is in good shape but for whatever the reason I seem to have a bit of a double chin. I've noticed it for a while but now It's really beginning to make me feel quite self conscious.
It is especially frustrating as I am not overweight in any way, shape or form. I think it is at least partly due to the genetic positioning of my jaw. My jaw is quite far back and I believe that this is making the skin of my neck hang a bit lower than it should, where as if my jaw was more forward the skin would be properly stretched out and I don't think I would really have a problem at all.
I did go to get an opinion from a cosmetic surgeon and was told that I am not a good candidate for liposuction and the like as I don't really have any excess fat under by chin. He believed that the only way to fix the problem was with jaw surgery which would take around 24 months and involve wearing braces! He also said that even if I decided to go through with it the level of improvement may only be marginal.
Going down this route is really out of the question for me but I was just wondering if anyone is in a similar situation or has an opinion on my case? Do you think anything else could be done to help me? Surgical or non surgical? Do you think chin exercises could help? Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
(As you can see from the pictures it looks worse at certain angles. Sometimes it is barely noticeable where as others it looks terrible.)
I have exactly this same problem. I had a mentoplasty, which I thought would help, but it didn't do much. I've thought about jaw augmentation, but I don't think that's really the issue, either. My throat/tissue/whatever just sits relatively low in relation to my jawbone. I also asked a facial surgeon, and he said the same thing about liposuction; I'm young (29), so I don't have any fat or loose skin there to remove. I hate it, but I'm just not sure if there's any solution. I'd love suggestions.
